Kirby's Dream Buffet is an upcoming Kirby spin-off game for the Nintendo Switch eShop.[2] In it, Kirby is shrunk by the Dream Fork and must face off against Waddle Dees and other multi-colored Kirbys in collecting the most strawberries atop a now giant cake[3] in order to grow bigger for a final fight.[4] General gameplay will revolve around playing various kinds of mini-games in various food-themed stages, grabbing strawberries to grow in size. Becoming larger grants various benefits to the Kirby in question, including rolling faster down hills, and is the metric by which the winner is decided.[5] The mini-games include racing and reaching a goal of strawberries, collecting falling strawberries, and snatching the strawberries of others by blowing them away.[6] The game can be played locally with up to four players[3] and also features online multiplayer via Nintendo Switch Online.[7] The game also features the familiar Copy Abilities[3] in a new form, as Copy Food abilities.[8][9]
Kirby's Dream Buffet is scheduled to release August 17th 2022, to be exclusively available as a digital download from the Nintendo eShop.
Story
In Kirby's Dream Buffet, Kirby is invited to a "gourmet festival" where he finds a cake, as shown in the opening scene. Instead of waiting for the festival to start, Kirby decides to eat the cake using the Dream Fork. In wielding the Dream Fork, Kirby is affected by its magical powers and is shrunk down significantly. From here, he is joined by other Kirbys as they roll around, eating the now relatively giant food.[9][10]
Gameplay
The gameplay of Kirby's Dream Buffet revolves around racing along various food-themed courses and/or battling in food-themed arenas to collect strawberries and grow larger in size, with the goal being to be the heaviest contestant by the end of the event. These events appear to be supervised by two giant floating white gloves who greatly resemble Master Hand & Crazy Hand, though they have yet to be confirmed as such. In the race courses, there are a number of enemies that populate the stages, resembling classic enemies from the Kirby series such as Bouncy, Kabu, and Gordo, but with food motifs. There also exist a number of stage devices and hazards, including what appear to be Bumpers and Dash Panels, also made to resemble food. Along the way, Kirbys can collide with Food Boxes to uncover various Copy Food abilities, with those revealed including Stone, Wheel, and Tornado.
Copy Food abilities
- Burning in the form of a chili pepper[11]
- Drill in the form of a carrot[11]
- Hi-Jump in the form of a gummy worm[11]
- Jelly[11]

- Stone in the form of a chocolate bar[3][12]
