King Doo is a Mid-boss debuting in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. He is a large yellow Waddle Doo with a pronounced tuft of hair and shoes with tips that point upward.

As expected from a Waddle Doo, he can use a beam whip attack, which appears essentially identical to a regular Waddle Doo's (though obviously bigger). King Doo can use the beam whip in the air after a jump and also has the Wave Beam ability, firing a large blast of energy sideways across the field. He also has a non-beam attack, which involves simply charging across the screen. Once defeated, King Doo can be inhaled for the Beam ability.

In Extra Mode, King Doo gains off-white skin and a deep red eye reminiscent of . In this form he gains the ability to turn while in attacking in midair, as well as the ability to fire up to three Wave Beams in succession. He also gains an attack similar to the Beam Blast, jumping and firing several medium-sized shots diagonally downwards.

King Doo returns after a long absence in Kirby: Planet Robobot. Here, he is wearing a metal suit. There is also an upgraded version of him known as King Doo 2.0.

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe/Super Kirby Clash

King Doo's in-game appearance in Super Kirby Clash.
That big, round eye is here and ready to glare daggers at you! If looks could kill...
— flavor text from Team Kirby Clash Deluxe

King Doo appears three times as an enemy encounter in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, and three more times in Super Kirby Clash. To make him more dangerous, he has been granted many new methods of firing his beam laser, but despite this, the strategy to beat him is much the same. In Super Kirby Clash, King Doo can also be found paired up with Mr. Frosty in Team First Contact.

Attacks

The following are all of King Doo's attacks in Super Kirby Clash. Note that attack names are conjectural:

Attack Description Variants Notes
Charge King Doo starts running very fast, and won't stop until he hits the edge of the arena.
Beam Whip King Doo conjures and releases a large beam whip from his eye that moves downward. Further into the fight, he can do this in mid-air.
Wave Beam King Doo charges up, and then releases a large circular beam blast from his eye which travels quickly across the stage. Further into the fight, he can do this multiple times in succession, or may fire them into the background for them to come back and hit somewhere on the stage.

Trivia

  • In Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition, the internal filename for King Doo is called "Beholdoo", which is a play on "Beholder". As of Kirby: Triple Deluxe, the file is renamed "Kingsdoo", which is closer to the final name.
