Invincible Candy

The Invincible Candy,[1] formerly known as Candy,[2] is a special item found in most games of the Kirby series. It is a rare item that resembles a glowing lollipop with a star. While the Invincible Candy is a lollipop, it is not technically food, as it does not recover any health.
In Kirby Super Star, the invincible effect can also be obtained from the Ability Mix roulette when it stops on the "Super" icon. In various multiplayer games starting with Kirby Super Star, its effect can be shared with Kirby's allies for a short time by Face-to-Face.
Effects
An Invincible Candy makes Kirby, his helper(s), or other playable character(s) temporarily invincible when eaten, enabling them to harm enemies and bosses without taking damage, as well as moving through hazards like spikes unharmed. However, the invincibility wears off after a few seconds, and it does not protect Kirby from falling into a bottomless pit or being crushed.
On the ability icon in the English version games, this invincible effect is called Hyper in Kirby's Adventure and Super in Kirby Super Star. In Japanese, this effect is called 無敵 (Muteki, "Invincible").
In Kirby Super Star, its remake Kirby Super Star Ultra, and recent games from Kirby's Return to Dream Land onward, the Invincible Candy speeds up its user as well.
Invincible Candy does not speed up its user or grant the ability to hurt on contact in the Kirby Fighters games, presumably for competitive balance reasons.
Notably, a special effect happens when acquiring some Invincible Candy while riding the Friend Star in Kirby Star Allies. The pause screen lists this effect as a move called "Shooting Star", and it allows the Friend Star to plow through enemies, metal blocks, and fragile walls by simply moving into them.

Music
- Main article: Invincible Candy (themes)
While Kirby is under the effect of an Invincible Candy, a special musical theme plays, which can be heard in nearly every game that includes the Candy. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and Kirby Mass Attack are the only games to have a different Invincible Candy theme than the recurring one. When the Invincible Candy is consumed in Kirby Air Ride, no special theme is played at all.

Trivia
- In promotional art for the Kirby series, e.g. from the "Pupupu Train" event or the Kirby JP Twitter, Invincible Candies are depicted as ordinary lollipops that are sold in stores.
- The effect of the Invincible Candy is similar to that of the Super Star from the Mario series. In recent Mario games, the Super Star can speed up its user, too.
- Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse are the only games where the Invincible Candy's effect does not transfer between rooms.
- While not technically related, Big-Rig Mouth is treated as a variant of the Invincible effect, with the song "A Full-Speed Farewell from the New World" incorporating the Invincible Candy theme and even using the term 無敵 ("invincible") in its Japanese name (無敵にGOODBYE NEW WORLD!).
