Ice Island is the sixth level of Kirby: Squeak Squad. It features cold frosty plains, forests and caverns, as well as an ice castle. Its boss is Daroach, the leader of the Squeaks.

Stages

Ice Island-1

File:IceIsland-1.jpg
Kirby plays in the snow in Stage 1.

Section 1: The stage begins in a grassy field as it begins to snow. The path continues up a shallow hill to the right, then back down the other side, where a Snooter guards the door to the next section.

Section 2: The door leads to an icy plain. Above Kirby's head is a bubble containing the Fire ability. From there, the path continues to the right past small pools with no bottom, patrolled by Scarfies. Further in, a large lage can be seen, with a frozen surface. Inside this lake is a bubble with an Energy Drink, which Kirby can get if he breaks through the ice. From there, the path opens to an arena where Gao Gao must be fought. Defeating and swallowing it yields the Animal ability. Using this, Kirby can dig through packed snow to get another bubble, just before reaching the door to the next section.

Section 3: The door leads to a large field of packed snow, which Kirby can dig through. In the snow are several items and enemies, along with a snaking path that Kirby can take if he loses the ability. Along the way are switches that open gates along the way. At the bottom, a Treasure Chest can be seen behind one gate in particular. One of the switches above opens this gate as well, but Kirby will not be able to reach the gate in time unless he does something crafty with the switch. From there, the door to the next section can be reached near the bottom of the area.

Section 4: The door leads to an icy cavern which leads to the right. A bubble containing the Parasol ability lies just ahead, which Kirby can use to protect himself from falling icicles. From there, he can take a conveyor platform past a large pool of water to reach an area with many ice blocks in the ceiling. Ahead, a Laser Ball appears, which can grant its trademark ability. Using this can allow Kirby to break through the ice blockade to reveal a doorway to a chamber where another chest can be obtained. Back on the main path, Kirby can also find use in his new laser toy by zapping the icicles on his path. From there, the door to the next section can be found at the end of the path.

Section 5: The door leads to a vertical shaft, lined with platforms of various sorts. A breakable bridge leads to a room below with three barrels. These contain Invincibility Candy a Kirby icon, and a Bun which will immediately attack. The main path continues upward past Shotzos. Past a Metalun can be reached the door to the next section.

Section 6: The door leads to an external area, where Storo takes hold of the large chest. Kirby will have to bust through a Bomb Block to escape the grotto he starts in and chase Storo down. After recovering the chest, the stage exit can be reached on a floating platform to the right.

Ice Island-2

Kirby performs some sword acrobatics between two moving platforms over a spike pit in Stage 2. Impressive.

Section 1: The stage begins in a frosty canopy zone, laden with nasty spikes. A series of platforms can be found to the right, some of which will drop into the spikes if Kirby lingers on them for too long. This continues past several platforms and spike pits, until the door to the next section can be reached at the other end of the path.

Section 2: The door leads to a series of shafts inside a wooden complex. The path leads upward, then to the right under a trio of Foleys, then back down the other side to reach the door to the next section. However, above the Foleys is another doorway, leading to a wide open side chamber containing a chest.

Section 3: The door leads to a frosty rocky area, with a cave opening to the right. In the floor is a series of ice blocks, which can be broken to reveal the fuse of a Fuse Cannon, guarded by a Maiga. Up ahead, the actual cannon can be found, guarded by a Hot Head. Kirby should know the drill at this point. Taking it leads to another open side-chamber, adjacent to the one where the first chest was obtained, where Kirby can acquire a bubble with the Magic ability inside. Back near the cannon, the door to the next section can be found just to the right.

Section 4: The door leads to another snowy canopy area, with a path leading right. A number of Sir Kibbles appear here to try and get in the way. Taking their ability will allow Kirby to cut ropes up ahead, which will cause various objects, good and bad, to appear. Past that, Kirby will have to contend with numerous Shotzos, dealing with them by hitting fire blocks. The door to the next section lies after dealing with the last pair of Shotzos.

Section 5: The door leads to a complex canopy area, where Spinni and the other Squeaks appear to nab the large chest in the middle of the area. The stage exit can be found directly beneath the chest's resting place. However, if Kirby heads off to the right where Spinni started first, he can obtain three Random item bubbles.

Ice Island-3

File:IceIsland-3.jpg
Kirby disturbs the Noddys with his snoring in Stage 3.

Section 1: The stage begins on the outskirts of a chilly-looking castle. The only thing Kirby needs to do is enter the door to the next section, located on the castle itself.

Section 2: The door leads to a winding hallway inside the castle, leading upward. A Foley can be seeing moving back and forth. From there, Kirby will have to deal with many sword wielders. At the top, the door to the next section can be found, guarded by four Noddys.

Section 3: The door leads to a vertical shaft, with a Waddle Doo in the wall. Up the path are a series of Gordos which Kirby ought to avoid. From there, a hallway leads to another shaft, with Scarfies in it. Along the way, a treasure chest can be seen in the ground, with a peg acting as the switch to gain access to it. In order to obtain this chest, Kirby will need to uncover an optional doorway behind some star blocks to the left, then proceed down the outer side of the castle, then through an area full of cannons to acquire a bubble with the Hammer ability. From there, he can finally pound the peg to obtain the chest. The door to the next section can then be reached at the top of the area.

Section 4: The door leads to a series of interconnected rooms. Two possible paths can be taken here, based on switch gates. The left path will take Kirby to a room containing the next chest. From there, the door to the next section can be reached in the uppermost room.

Section 5: The door leads to the top of the castle, as Kirby must then proceed further upward along suspended platforms. From there, past a bubble containing an Energy Drink, the door to the next section can be reached on the uppermost platform.

Section 6: The door leads to a series of floating interconnected platforms. A large chest can be seen atop a grey thundercloud platform. Doc appears above Kirby's head, and will race him to the chest as it's carried along to the right by the thundercloud platform. Doc is not so much the problem here, as much as the cloud that carries the chest away at a brisk pace, as well as the numerous enemies in the way. The stage exit can be found near the right end of the path, once Kirby has accomplished his task.

Ice Island-4

File:IceIsland-4.jpg
Kirby shows a Scarfy his magic tricks in an ice cave in Stage 4.

Section 1: The stage begins in a snowy plain, as a Bubble Head appears to greet Kirby. From there, he will have to deal with several Flamers as he progresses up the hill to the right. This leads to a pit containing a Heavy Knight. In the pit itself, past a blockade is a treasure chest. Some abilities can break the bomb block on the underside, but there is another path to get down there further right. The door to the next section can be found at the right end of the path, up against the wall.

Section 2: The door leads to a cavern headed to the right. From there, Kirby will have to deal with many enemies on the path. This path winds upward to the left, past a crumbling floor, then to a room where the Mid-Boss Boxy is fought. Defeating it allows Kirby to obtain the Magic ability. The path then winds again upward, and heads right in a more open area. Along the way, Kirby will have to deal with another Uja. At the right end of the path is the door to the next section. However, a crumbling path leads to a pit containing the U.F.O. ability inside a bubble.

Section 3: The door leads to another exterior zone, where Kirby will be immediately surrounded by Scarfies. To the right, in a grotto, are three bubbles containing distinct abilities around the door to the next section.

Section 4: The door leads to a narrow cave, which splits off into two paths. On the upper path, a Sir Kibble guards a roped platform holding a chest in another room. Past this guard and a Snooter is the door to the next section. The lower path leads to the chest, but only if a bomb block next to the chest can be triggered from that position. The Magic ability is one that can reach it.

Section 5: The door leads to a tunnel leading off to the right. Icicles in the ceiling will attempt to fall on Kirby, because they always will. The path snakes back and forth past more icicles until reaching open air once again. The door to the next section can be found at the end of the path, past a spike pit.

Section 6: The door leads to an open area with a Cupie. Kirby will then have to navigate over large bottomless pits interspersed with icy platforms. The door to the next section can be found up a slope at the right end of the area.

Section 7: The door leads to an open hillside area, with some floating platforms above and numerous enemies about. A large chest can be seen just after the hill drops to a cliff, surrounded by ice blocks. Once the treasure is obtained, the Squeaks appear, this time led by Storo. They appear on a bridge that can be broken using a switch up ahead, which will cause them to plummet into an abyss. The stage exit can be found just to the right from there, though a 1Up can also be found below, in a small perilous alcove.

Kirby prepares to enter the grand Squeaks hideout in Stage 5.

This level serves as a Mid-Boss gauntlet, except this time specifically featuring the Squeaks. Kirby will have to face off against all three of the leaders, Spinni, Storo and Doc, and wrestle a large chest from each one. In the interim, Kirby will have the opportunity to obtain abilities from bubbles. Once all three rodents are defeated, Kirby can then proceed through the stage exit.

Ice Island-Boss: Daroach

File:IceIsland-Boss.jpg
Kirby faces off against Daroach at last.

The stage begins in a cold castle chamber. Above are bubbles containing the Fire and Tornado abilities, along with the door to the boss chamber.

The chamber itself is a simple room inside the castle. Daroach can be seen hovering in the middle of the room. This time, however, he does not disappear, floating down to engage Kirby himself. Daroach is a tough customer, capable of using myriad attacks using the Triple Star Cane, bombs, and an ice beam to harass the pink puffball. Defeating him yields the Boss Battle Badge, triggers the next major cut-scene, and then allows Kirby to progress to the next level, Secret Sea, but only if he collected all five Star Seals beforehand.

Ice Island-EX

File:IceIsland-EX.jpg
Metal Kirby enjoys a wash in a cold waterfall in a cave in Stage EX.

Section 1: The stage begins in a cold forest area. A Wheelie can be seen trapped inside a platform, and can be swallowed for the Wheel ability. From there, the path leads into a cave area. Once Kirby opens it up, he'll have to ride like the wind down numerous slopes in order to reach the treasure chest at the bottom before it is blocked off. From there, he can access the door to the next section.

Section 2: The door leads to a chilly underground passage, filled with Metalun. It winds down, leading quickly to the door to the next section.

Section 3: The door leads to a passage, opening up to the left to reveal a wider cave area. Spanning this cave is a segmented ice bridge swarming with enemies. Below, a large pool can be found, but swimming too deep is not advised. The path eventually leads into a small grotto on the left end of the cave, where a Heavy Knight guards a barrel containing a Maxim Tomato. Above that is the door to the next section.

Section 4: The door leads to a vertical drop, populated by a waterfall and some Pengys. If Kirby travels to the other side of the waterfall, he can break some ice blocks at the bottom to reveal a hidden doorway leading to a room where Kirby will have to chase down a Gold Waddle Dee for its treasure. Back on the main path, the drop also features a small underwater area, where Kirby will get his first good look at a new enemy, the pointy-faced fish Gussa, which will attempt to ram into him. Not nice. Entering the water is not necessary, however, since the door to the next section is just above the surface, to the right.

Section 5: The door leads to an underground chamber, where Spinni will appear to try and nab the large chest in the middle of the room. Kirby will naturally have to fight her off, along with the other Squeaks. The stage exit can be found up a ledge to the right after Spinni is defeated.
