Halcandra is a world featured in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. It is the homeworld of Magolor and Landia, and the resting place of both the Lor Starcutter and the Master Crown. The world can described as in poor condition, and appears to consist of primarily volcanic-type land. It is said to be a long way from Pop Star, though the distance is hardly an issue for the Lor when it is in working condition. Its position relative to any other worlds in the Kirby series is unknown.

Geography

The Lor approaches Halcandra.

The world of Halcandra consists of two primary areas. They are Egg Engines, a mostly abandoned industrial park with many robotic entities and hazards, and Dangerous Dinner, the hottest and most treacherous volcanic area on the planet, sporting its tallest mountain and volcano where Landia stands guard. Pools of water do exist on Halcandra, but they only appear to do so underground.

Halcandra's denizens are largely the same as the ones in Pop Star, though many have altered appearances to make them more robotic, implying a higher technological level of development. Much like in Pop Star, their only purpose seems to be guarding the sites that Kirby and his friends traverse through, with the mysterious Metal General of the Egg Engines stage being the most prudent example.

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land

Following the return of the Lor's last missing piece, Magolor and Kirby's entourage travel here from Pop Star using the Lor's warp capabilities, but upon being spotted in the air by Landia, they're shot down once again. In response, Kirby and his friends set out to defeat Landia, which is their primary goal in this world. Landia serves as the boss of Dangerous Dinner, and defeating it would seem to be the final objective, but not all is as it seems...

Trivia

  • The name Halcandra is probably another reference to the name of the developer of the game, Hal Laboratories. The 'candra' part may be a reference to the latin word for 'glowing', referencing the hot volcanic terrain.
  • Halcandra was once home to a powerful race of beings, who constructed many of the artifacts seen throughout the Kirby series and initially tasked Landia to guard the Lor and the Master Crown before disappearing.
