If you hear a rumble in the ruins, you're probably near a Grindarr. Those things will squash you flat if you stop under them. So don't do that.
— Daroach, in Kirby Mass Attack

Grindarr is an enemy that appears in Kirby Mass Attack and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. It is a large stone block creature attached to a chain, which attempts to crush Kirby if he draws near, opening its mouth wide before doing so. Once it has hit the ground, a Grindarr is slowly pulled back up by the chain until it is in position to fall again.

Game appearances

Kirby Mass Attack

In Kirby Mass Attack, Grindarrs come in two varieties. The first is grey in colTemplate:Or, and cannot be harmed. The second is sandstone orange in colTemplate:Or, and can be shattered if hit enough times by a flicked Kirby. These Grindarrs often conceal chains, which the Kirbys can pull to reveal items. There is also a larger variety of Grindarr called Mega Grindarr.

Orange Grindarrs also appear in the Sub-Games Kirby Brawlball and Kirby Quest. In Kirby Brawlball, they launch Kirby back onto the playing field if he lands on them, then disappear. In Kirby Quest, two Grindarrs, each with 500 HP, are fought in Stage 6 of Chapter 2.

These giant blocks drop down on you from above, so they're pretty nasty. However, their eyes and mouths open really wide right before they take that plunge, so maybe they're as surprised as you when they fall down!
— Grindarr's Figurine description from Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

Only the gray Grindarrs return in [[Kirby and the Rainbow Curse|Template:KatRC KatRP]] and function in much the same way as before, though this time, they are not attached to chains, and fall freely when the ground below them is removed. Their falling speed is also much slower than it was in Kirby Mass Attack, albeit more permanent once it happens.

In addition to the active Grindarrs, there are a good number of inactive orange ones that can be seen in the walls in the ruined areas of Yellow Dunes.
