Green Greens is among the first pieces of music composed for the Kirby series, first appearing as the theme for the Green Greens stage in Kirby's Dream Land, and reappearing in several games since then. It has been remixed, re-orchestrated, and remastered several times throughout the series, including being incorporated into other themes and tracks. Even as such, however, it can often still be heard in its original form in many titles, particularly as an easter egg in HAL Rooms, or in trailers for the games.

This theme has become associated with Kirby as a character, and is often paired with the ending theme for Milky Way Wishes.

Game Appearances

This article or section is under construction. Therefore, please excuse its informal appearance while it's being worked on. We hope to have it completed as soon as possible.
No reason has been specified.

Kirby's Dream Land

As mentioned above, the Green Greens theme is the stage music for Green Greens, from which it gets its name. This original version was composed by Jun Ishikawa, who has since gone on to compose much of the music for the series.

Kirby's Adventure / Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land

In Adventure and its remake, the theme reappears in the throwback stage Rainbow Resort - Stage 6. In the former, the Kirby's Dream Land version is reused, while in the latter the song gets a new arrangement.

In Nightmare in Dream Land, an energetic remix of the Green Greens theme plays in the Kirby's Air Grind Sub-game.

Kirby's Pinball Land

The Green Greens theme is rearranged for the Poppy Brothers' Land stage in Kirby's Pinball Land.

Kirby Super Star (Ultra)

A new arrangement of the Green Greens theme plays in the Green Greens stage of Spring Breeze.

This theme was also incorporated into The Great Cave Offensive theme for the Crystal and Garden areas. This version is notable for being a slower paced version when compared to the original, and also for featuring an extended melody that would later be used in multiple other remixes of the theme. In the Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe Original Sound Track, it is named 水晶の畑エリア (Crystal Field Area).

Finally, theme is also incorporated into the staff credits theme for Milky Way Wishes, Milky Way Wishes: Staff Credits.

Super Smash Bros. series

Super Smash Bros. Melee

On the Green Greens stage, an orchestral version of the Green Greens theme plays, which incorporates Kirby's Triumphant Return into it. Is is arranged by Hirokazu Ando, and simply named Green Greens.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

While the theme itself didn't get its own remix like in Melee, Green Greens was incorporated into the Butter Building remix, and in the Legendary Air Ride remix.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U

Green Greens got a brand new arrangement in this game, named Green Greens Ver. 2. It is more dramatic and energetic sounding than its Melee counterpart, and also adds various new melodic sections to the song. It is arranged by Masashi Hamauzu.

The theme is also incorporated into the new remix The Great Cave Offensive, due to it having a rearrangement of the Crystal Field Area version from Template:KSS KFP.

The original version from Kirby's Dream Land plays in the Green Greens section of the Dream Land GB stage.

Finally, the Melee remix, now named Green Greens (Melee), returns as playable track in The Great Cave Offensive stage. Butter Building and The Legendary Air Ride Machine return as well.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

While Green Greens didn't get a new remix in this game, much like in Brawl, it does appear in the new Staff Credits - Kirby's Dream Land remix, due to it featuring Milky Way Wishes: Staff Credits and, notably, predominantly using its Green Greens section.

In addition, all the tracks from previous Super Smash Bros. games that had Green Greens in some form return in this game, now being able to be played in any Kirby stage, and, as of the 8.1.0 update, Battlefield, Small Battlefield, Big Battlefield, and Final Destination. The only changed tracks are the original Green Greens from Kirby's Dream Land, that was instead incorporated into the Kirby Retro Medley, and the Green Greens Ver. 2 remix, that was renamed to Green Greens (for 3DS / Wii U).

Kirby Air Ride

The Green Greens arrangement from Template:KSS KFP is reused as the alternate track for the Fantasy Meadows course.

A remix of the Green Greens theme very similar to the orchestral arrangement from Super Smash Bros. Melee, can be unlocked and used as the alternate track for the Checker Knights course. It is simply named グリーングリーンズ (Green Greens) in The Very Best of Kirby: 52 Hit Tracks, and is arranged by Hirokazu Ando[1].

Another remix of the theme plays when the "Rowdy Charge Tank" event is in effect in the City Trial mode. This remix, named City Trial: Rowdy Charge Tank[2], is notably similar to the "Kirby's Air Grind" version from Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. It is arranged by Jun Ishikawa[1].

Finally, a remix of the first section of the Green Greens theme plays during the Drag Race Stadium mode. It is also arranged by Hirokazu Ando[1].

Kirby: Canvas Curse

The "Kirby's Air Grind" remix from Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land plays in the Time Trials of Rainbow Run.

When the "Old School" sound mode is selected, the regular Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land arrangement plays in Plant Plain and Growth Grasses.

Template:KSS KMA

A simple arrangement of the Green Greens theme plays in Nature Notch - Stage 3, at the end of Nature Notch - Stage 5, and in Vocal Volcano - Stage 1.

A different, more heroic sounding, and heavily remixed version of the theme plays in the last stage of the game, Gamble Galaxy - Stage 3. It take various melody liberties, but predominantly features the first half of the Green Greens theme.

Kirby's (Extra) Epic Yarn

The Green Greens theme makes a full reappearance in the Whispy's Forest stage. It is rearranged using instrumentation similar to other tracks in the game, with piano being the most prominent instrument used. Its name is Green Greens: Epic Yarn[3].

Kirby Mass Attack

Three different arrangements of the Green Greens theme play in three distinct cutscenes:

  • The first, called Rainbow Riches, plays in the cutscene that plays after gathering all Rainbow Medals, and unlocking the final level of the game, Necro Nebula.
  • The second, called Eerie Island, plays in the cutscene that shows the Kirbys heading towards Necro Nebula, and getting attacked by Skullys.
  • The third, called Down to One, plays in the cutscene after defeating Necrodeus, when the Kirbys use his magic staff to become one Kirby again. This version starts with Kirby's Triumphant Return, but quickly switches to the Green Greens theme.

Template:KRDL KAW

A relaxed sounding remix of the Green Greens theme plays outside of the Lor Starcutter, if Kirby is about to visit it from Popstar.

A different remix of the Green Greens theme, very similar to the Template:KSS KFP arrangement, even with a strikingly similar soundfont, plays in the Item Challenge Challenge Stage, and in the game's HAL Rooms.

Small segments of the theme are incorporated into the theme for Super Abilities, Bring on the Super Ability, specifically at around 0:25 and 0:36.

CROWNED, the battle theme of Magolor's second form, features the Green Greens theme at its very end, featuring part the extended melody from the Super Smash Bros. Melee version.

Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition

The original version from Kirby's Dream Land is reused in the HAL Room that exists in the Normal Challenge of Last Land in the New Challenge Stages mode. The Epic Yarn arrangement also has a chance of playing there instead.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe

The Green Greens theme is remixed in a fairly relaxed matter to serve as the world map theme in Triple Deluxe, featuring the extended melody of the song that first appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee. This version has the same title as the original song, Green Greens, and is arranged by Hirokazu Ando.

In Dedede's Drum Dash, Green Greens serves as the theme of the first stage, played using the instrumentation common among the themes for this Sub-Game.

Revenge of the Enemy, the boss revenge battle theme of the game, incorporates the Green Greens theme in its second half.

The theme is also featured at the end of the theme of the last battle against Queen Sectonia, The World to Win.

Finally, the Green Greens theme is paired with the Peanut Plains theme to serve as the alternate staff credits theme of the game, which plays in the default "Staff credits" movie in the game's Theater.

Template:KRC KRP

The Green Greens theme is present in many songs of the game:

  • The menu's theme, titled Main Menu, is a simple arrangement of the theme.
  • The game's tutorial theme, Learn the Controls!, is a very light arrangement of the theme, with the main melody being played with a flute and a guitar, and an original intro with an harp.
  • The theme that plays when viewing the Secret Diary, named Reading the Secret Diary, is a relaxed sounding arrangement of the theme, primarily featuring a flute and guitar. It's notably very similar to the Learn the Controls! version.
  • Deploy the Kirby Tank!, the music that plays in the level of the same name when Kirby has the Kirby Tank transformation, is a remix of the theme, featuring the extended medley from the "Crystal Field Area" version from Kirby Super Star.
  • Claycia's battle theme, Battle with Claycia, features a short segment of the Green Greens theme right at the end.
  • A fairly simple Green Greens remix can be unlocked and then played in the game's Music Room.
  • Finally, the theme is the last song featured in the unlockable Kirby Medley track.

Kirby: Planet Robobot

A remix of the Green Greens theme, with some small changes to its melodic structure, plays in sections of Patched Plains - Stage 2 and Patched Plains - Stage 3. This version is called Re: Green Greens, and is arranged by Hirokazu Ando.

The City Trial: Rowdy Charge Tank arrangement from Kirby Air Ride is reused in Patched Plains - Stage 6 EX, while its Green Greens arrangement is reused in Access Ark - Stage 8 EX. Finally, the Drag Race arrangement is reused in every extra stage (except Access Ark - Stage 8 EX) for the 2.0 mid-boss battles.

The throwback Green Greens theme arrangement from Template:KRDL KAW is reused in the first level of the Sub-Game Kirby 3D Rumble.

The battle theme of Star Dream's first phase, Vs. Star Dream, features the Green Greens theme close to its end.

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash

The alternate staff credits theme from Kirby: Triple Deluxe plays in its original form in the alternate staff credits from the Options screen.

The same theme is remixed in the player's Profile menu, and in the results screen after finishing a quest.

Another remix plays during certain cutscenes, such as the opening; the remix is titled グリーンストーリーズ (Green Stories) on Kirby Star Allies: The Original Soundtrack.

In Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, the theme is featured as part of a medley in both of the staff credits themes.

Kirby Battle Royale

The first section of the Green Greens theme is remixed to serve as the theme that plays in the game's Training mode.

Kirby Star Allies

The Green Greens theme makes multiple appearances in Star Allies:

  • The theme of the first level of the game, Green Gardens, is a simple arrangement of the theme, notably very similar to the Re: Green Greens version from Kirby: Planet Robobot, just with different instrumentation. This version is arranged by Hirokazu Ando.
  • The original version from Kirby's Dream Land is reused in Extra Eclair.
  • The theme of the final level, The Divine Terminus, is a slow-paced, sinister sounding remix of the Green Greens theme, that predominantly features violins. This version is also arranged by Hirokazu Ando. On Kirby Star Allies: The Original Soundtrack, it is called 夢と新緑の残痕地 (Land of Dreams and Greenery’s Remains).
  • The theme of the fourth phase of the battle against Void Termina opens up with an electric guitar cover of the Green Greens theme. This track is arranged by Hirokazu Ando once again, and is called 組曲:星羅征く旅人 第四楽章:生誕の希望 (Suite: The Star Conquering Traveler - Fourth Movement: Hope of Birth) on the Original Soundtrack.
    • When battling against Void, a variation of this track plays, which features the Green Greens theme even more, going as far as to feature the original version of the track in chiptune. This version is called 組曲:星羅征く旅人 最終楽章:煌めき星 (Suite: The Star Conquering Traveler - Final Movement: Sparkling Star) on the Original Soundtrack.
  • The Ultimate Choice's title screen theme is an intense remix of the theme, primarily featuring electric guitars, trumpets, and drums. It is arranged by Yuuta Ogasawara, and is titled お好み究極チョイス味 (Choosing the Ultimate Choice’s Flavor) on the Original Soundtrack.
  • At the very end of Extra Planet δ, a Big Switch can be pressed to make a giant golden statue of Kirby appear in the background. As the statue rises, the player's controller (if it has HD Rumble turned on) will rumble in a way that it actually plays the first portion of the Green Greens theme, entirely separate from the game's audio.
  • After reaching 100% completion, the main menu theme is changed to the Green Greens remix from Kirby Air Ride.

Kirby Fighters 2

In this game, the theme receives a remix in the credits theme of the options menu, where it's paired with the Bumper Crop Bump theme from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

The Green Gardens remix from Kirby Star Allies is reused in the stage of the same name, and a new remix of it can be unlocked as an alternate track for the stage when the player reaches Fighters Rank 19.

In the game's Training Mode, a medley of Training from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Green Greens, and Ripple Star: Stage Select plays. This medley has two distinct versions: one with regular instruments used in other songs of the game, and a chiptune version; the game selects one of the two at random to play in said mode.

Finally, an intense remix of the theme plays during most of the intermissions in the Final Chapter of Story Mode: The Destined Rivals.

Other Appearances

The theme has been performed live using an orchestra, most prominently in the Kirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert, as part of the opening theme Kirby's 25th Anniversary: Grand Opening, and of the Kirby Super Star Medley, due to it featuring the "Crystal Field Area" version of the theme.

In the Japanese version of Kirby: Right Back At Ya, the Drag Race remix from Kirby: Air Ride plays in some of the later episodes; it is named Final Strategy (とっておきの作戦) on Kirby & The Amazing Mirror Sound Plus. Meanwhile, its orchestral Green Greens remix plays during the final scene of Air-Ride-in-Style - Part II, where Kirby flies off inside the Destroya and destroys it with the Crash Copy Ability.

The Green Greens theme has also appeared in The Sound of Kirby Café in Track 1: Fresh Green Café Terrace / Green Greens, and in The Sound of Kirby Café 2 in Track 15: GREEN WARMTH.

The theme is also featured at the beginning of the bonus track ステージメドレー/アコースティックver. (Stage Medley / Acoustic Ver.) of the Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe Original Soundtrack. It sounds very similar to the Epic Yarn remix, though it was released beforehand.
