Gourmet Race (also known as Get Up and Go-Urmet! and Gourmet Go Go) is a musical track that first appeared in the Gourmet Race game of Kirby Super Star, and has since reappeared in numerous titles in the Kirby series, mainly in re-orchestrated and remastered varieties. It is often associated with King Dedede, but is not his main theme. It is also commonly associated with the Fountain of Dreams.

Game Appearances

Kirby Super Star (Ultra)

As mentioned above, this theme is used in Gourmet Race, and as such, is named after that game. It appears in stages 1 and 3, with the track for stage 2 being less well-known.

The original version is titled Get Up and Go-Urmet! (Track 8) in Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition Compilation Soundtrack Track.

A theme with a similar melody appears in this title as well - the Peanut Plains theme.

Kirby's Dream Land 3

In a higher key, the Gourmet Race theme appears in a couple stages in this title, first appearing in Sand Canyon.

Super Smash Bros. series

Dream Land / Gourmet Race (64)

In Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo 64, this theme appears in the Dream Land stage. It is similar to the original version, though with somewhat different instrumentation. It's arranged by Hirokazu Ando.

This version is titled Dream Land (American English) / Gourmet Race (64) (British English) when Dream Land returns as a DLC stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.

The Fountain of Dreams / Gourmet Race (Melee)

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, an orchestral version of the theme, with a very different tone, appears on the Fountain of Dreams stage. It's arranged by Tadashi Ikegami.

This particular version, titled The Fountain of Dreams (American English) / Gourmet Race (Melee) (British English), would later appear in the Kirby series proper, in Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, Kirby Air Ride, Kirby: Triple Deluxe, as well as Super Smash Bros. for Wii U only for the stage Dream Land (The original Fountain of Dreams stage hasn't appeared since its debut in Melee until Super Smash Bros. Ultimate).

Gourmet Race (Brawl)

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a heavy metal version of the theme appears as a default theme for the Halberd stage. It's arranged by Motoi Sakuraba.

This version along with the Halberd stage reappear in Supe Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, titled Gourmet Race (American English) / Gourmet Race (Brawl) (British English).

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

The theme is used for the 100-Yard Hop Mini Game.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe

This theme (here called Gourmet Go Go) appears as the theme for level 2 of Dedede's Drum Dash. It is arranged in a similar manner to the other songs in the Sub-Game. This theme is also the title screen music for DededeTour!.

Other Appearances

The Gourmet Race theme has been performed live several times using an orchestra, most prominently in the Kirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert.
