"Gorgeous-Go-Round"[2] is a stage theme from Kirby: Planet Robobot heard in the casino areas of the fourth stage of Resolution Road and the second stage of Rhythm Route. It was composed by Jun Ishikawa, and can also be listened to in the game's Jukebox as Track 017.[1]
Composition[edit]
"Gorgeous-Go-Round" is a lively and goofy honky-tonk piece in C Mixolydian mode and 2/4. It has a short intro remotely and coincidently similar to that of "Slippery Steps" that ends in an repeated iteration of a dominant chord and a glissando. The melody consists of a rising minor seventh from the tonic, a gradual descent, and fixation on repeated B-flat and C; this melody (and particularly its conclusion) is remarkably similar to "Stage: Comical". Each iteration of the melody is played by a different instrument: a honky-tonk piano, trumpet, flute and synthesizer. Between each two iterations there is an extension of the melody's final portion that can be seen as the peak of each section, ending in more dominant chords. After the second peak comes an improvisational passage where 3 different instruments (among which is a newly joined clarinet) build upon one another. This section and the next are somewhat reminiscent of the analogous improvisational passage in "Ripple Star", albeit while keeping the playful character. Following up is a drum solo with occasional piano chords forming a plagal sequence. After a while, the extended final melodic portion returns in its full glory before the track loops.
