Gordos are a common enemy in the Kirby series, having appeared in every such game. They take the appearance of floating black balls with large eyes a spikes around their perimeter.
Gordos are completely immune to any attacks thrown at them; at best projectiles will not penetrate them, at worst the attacker will be damaged in return. As such they are best avoided, not confronted. However this is often easier said than done; Gordos tend to sit in corridors, bounce back and forth between two solid objects vertically or horizontally, circle around blocks, or bounce along the ground affected by gravity, and generally block Kirby's path.
While Gordos cannot be destroyed, they can sometimes be dealt with. If a Gordo is bouncing around a hallway, destroying the block it bounces against will cause it to leave. Many of Kirby's attacks leave him temporarily invincible (like burning or wheel), allowing him to dash through a row of Gordos.
Gordos can be part of the pool of available minions for bosses to produce. While Kirby can often attack enemies hurled at him during a boss fight, Gordos can be avoided only. This is even true for King Dedede's side special move and Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl; while he tends to throw Waddle Dees and Waddle Doos, every now and then he tosses a Gordo, which cannot be interrupted and will KO even heavy characters with ease should it connect.
Game appearances
Kirby Air Ride
Gordos appear in Kirby Air Ride as items called "Gold Spikes" and an indestructible enemy while the players are racing. If the Gordo is used as an item, Kirby can obtain them only in City Trial, by breaking green boxes or in Destruction Derby. Kirby can throw three of these Gordos. After being thrown, the Gordo grows to giant sizes and inflicts heavy damage to nearby objects, including Air Ride machines. They disappear after a set time. Kirby can drop this item if he collects a Copy Ability panel or by getting attacked. If they are dropped, they do not grow.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe
A ghost variant, known as a Ghost Gordo, debuted in Kirby: Triple Deluxe. It functions similarly to a Gordo, but is invisible unless viewed through a mirror. An insectoid variant of the Gordo also exists in Royal Road.
Kirby: Star Allies
In Kirby Star Allies Gordos can be defeated if an obstacle crushes them.
