This article is about the boss in Kirby: Planet Robobot. For the Battle Stage, see Gigavolt (Battle Stage).
An impressive machine built by the mysterious invaders. It's chock full of advanced technology. It is unknown if this giant robot has any weak spots.
— Vs. Gigavolt Pause Screen description in Kirby: Planet Robobot

Gigavolt is a Boss that first appeared in Kirby: Planet Robobot. It appears in Stage 3 of Patched Plains and is fought exclusively with the Robobot Armor.

Gigavolt is notably large; given that it takes up a majority of the screen even being in the background. It's a towering green robot with a cylindrical head, long arms with rectangular hands, and apparently no legs, as its torso seems to just connect directly to the ground. Despite its intimidating size, it is not hard to defeat.

Game appearances

Kirby: Planet Robobot

The second edition of the Gigavolt was developed for the express purpose of eradicating all obstacles. Priced at 8.6 billion Haltmanns, it's twice the cost of a first-generation Gigavolt.
— Vs. Gigavolt II Pause Screen description in Kirby: Planet Robobot

At the end of Stage 3 of Patched Plains, Kirby rolls with his armor into a flat area, where two small green robots known as Vols ambush him. These two are presumably minions of Gigavolt, and are easily defeated by unscrewing the screws on their heads. Once both are destroyed, Gigavolt itself appears, its head flying in and connecting to the rest of its body. It sits in the background, and as such, cannot be attacked directly. It instead makes itself vulnerable when it attempts to slam one of its fists on Kirby. Once it hits the ground, Kirby can destroy the protective covering, then unscrew the screw on its hand, dislodging it, and causing the arm to explode. Once both arms are destroyed in this way, Kirby then hops onto Gigavolt's head, and unscrews the screw there. He has to do this quickly though, as missiles fired from Gigavolt's back close in on him. If successful, Gigavolt explodes, and the stage exit flies out of it for Kirby to enter through.

Another variety of Gigavolt, known as Gigavolt II, appears at the end of Stage 5 of the Access Ark. This variety is purple, has two layers of armor on its hands, and changes its arm slam in one of two ways: either by slamming three times in a row aiming for Kirby while doing so or by charging up a super-charged slam that creates shockwaves on either side.

One of Star Dream Soul OS's attacks is to summon two Gigavolt IIs to attack the Halberd. Here it can be plainly seen that they have no legs.

Kirby Fighters 2

Gigavolt also appears in Kirby Fighters 2, as a stage hazard for the battle stage of the same name. Gigavolt's battle theme, "Pink Ball Activate!", is used as the stage theme.
