The Game Boy Advance, sometimes abbreviated as GBA, is a 32-bit portable handheld console released by Nintendo on March 21, 2001 in Japan, June 11, 2001 in North America and June 22, 2001 in Europe. It is fully backwards-compatible with most Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. It features a much-improved screen over the Game Boy Color, being in widescreen, and capable of displaying over 32,000 colors simultaneously. It had two redesigns, in the forms of the Game Boy Advance SP, and the Game Boy Micro. The game cartridges released for the Game Boy Advance are compatible with the GBA slot on the first two models of the Nintendo DS handheld. Later models such as the DSi have removed the slot.

Two Kirby games were developed for the Game Boy Advance.

Game Boy Micro

The Game Boy Micro is the successor of the Game Boy Advance SP, the predecessor to the Nintendo DS, and the last console to date to have been released under the Game Boy banner. The Game Boy Micro had a very brief period of prominence, but lost its favor to the Nintendo DS, which was released only one year after it.
