Galbo is a limbless dragon-like enemy that made its debut in Kirby's Dream Land 3. It harasses Kirby by breathing fire at him if he gets too close, but otherwise does not move willingly from its position. It provides the Burning ability when inhaled in its initial appearance and in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, and the Fire ability in all its subsequent appearances. There is a water variant of it called Water Galbo.

File:DL3 Galbo Sprite.png Galbo makes its debut appearance in this game, serving alongside Bobo as a primary provider of the Burn ability. Galbo tends not to move from its starting position, and will instead opt to breathe a steady cone of fire in the direction of whichever character is closest to it. Compared to Bobo, Galbo is relatively rare in the game.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Galbo returns in this title, making its debut in 3-D. It behaves largely the same as before, hopping in place and breathing a cone of fire in Kirby's direction when it sees him.
A big Galbo appears as a Mid-Boss in stage 1 of Neo Star. Like its smaller cousins, its only strategy is to hold position and breathe a cone of fire toward Kirby on occasion. Yarikos appear continuously above this big Galbo to rain spears down on Kirby during this fight, but these unwitting minions can be used as ammunition against the Galbo instead.

— N.M.E. Sales Guy, in Hatch Me If You Can
|
In the Kirby: Right Back at Ya! episode titled Hatch Me If You Can (Kirby's Mysterious Egg in the Japanese version), Kirby is given a Galbo egg, in a manner which makes him believe that he may have lain it. He raises the infant Galbo after it hatches, but ends up spoiling it in the process due to failing to discipline it after it wreaks havoc in Cappy Town. Later in the episode, Night Mare Enterprises sends the parent Galbo to attack Kirby, banking on the idea that Kirby would be unwilling to defend himself against something which resembles the Galbo he'd become attached to. At first, this plan seems to be working, as Kirby finds himself unable to attack the mother Galbo, and ends up being roasted by the Galbo's flames. However, while Kirby is being attacked, the baby Galbo appears. The mother Galbo urges it to come back to it, being its true parent, but the baby Galbo chooses Kirby instead. Angered by this, the mother Galbo incinerates the baby with its fire breath, presumably killing it. Upon seeing this, Kirby mourns, then goes after the mother Galbo with full force, defeating it by copying its Fire ability and destroying it from within. In the end, the baby Galbo survives, having molted its burnt skin.
Much like in the video games, Galbo is portrayed as a round limbless reptile-like creature with the ability to breathe a cone of fire. The baby Galbo in particular demonstrates its voracious omnivorous appetite by consuming nearly every food item it sees, along with some typically inedible objects. Despite this, it does not seem to like the taste of hay very much. The baby Galbo also demonstrates the rapid regenerative abilities of its species by recovering from otherwise lethal burns within hours. Despite its role in the episode it appears in, the baby Galbo is never seen or mentioned again in the series.
Trivia
- In the anime, Galbo is depicted as having purple skin, despite it consistently having red skin in all the games it appears in.
