“ | You will now fight a warrior who was sealed away for fear his power was too great. I will now summon this great warrior once more. 3… 2… 1… GO! | ” | — Galactic NOVA, addressing Meta Knight in Meta Knightmare Ultra, Kirby Super Star Ultra |
Galacta Knight, known as Galactic Knight in Japan, is a powerful recurring Boss in the Kirby series. He greatly resembles Meta Knight, even being the same size, but sports key visual differences. His body is magenta in color, and the eyes behind his mask are red (magenta in Star Allies). His mask has a pointed cross-shaped visor on it instead of a horizontal slit. Unlike Meta Knight's bat wings, Galacta Knight has feathered wings. He fights with a magenta lance and a shield with a four-pointed star on it, much like the design of his helmet.
Game Appearances
Kirby Super Star Ultra
Galacta Knight made his debut as a surprise boss in Kirby Super Star Ultra. At the end of Meta Knightmare Ultra, Meta Knight meets the Galactic NOVA, who grants him one wish. Meta Knight wishes to fight the strongest warrior in the galaxy so that he may become stronger, so NOVA unlocks Galacta Knight, who had been sealed away because of his immense power.
Galacta Knight's attack patterns are similar to Meta Knight's, but he makes liberal use of energy attacks. He often guards as well, whick makes him invulnerable from damage in the process. He is also battled by Kirby in The True Arena. When on the ground, he hovers instead of standing most of the time.
The following lists all of Galacta Knight's attacks in Super Star Ultra.

Kirby: Planet Robobot
“ | You are mighty indeed. Now for the final test… This was prohibited by the previous admin… Preparing to boot the Space-Time Transport program… Let us bring back a legendary swordsman from a forgotten time. He may end up destroying a nearby planet or two, but such is life. The benefits of this final battle outweigh the collateral damage. Prepare yourself… | ” | — Star Dream, addressing Meta Knight in Meta Knightmare Returns, Kirby: Planet Robobot |

“ | This ancient swordsman is feared for his immense power. He is not a clone. He was awakened and brought here through an extra-dimensional road beyond the space-time continuum. | ” | — vs Galacta Knight Returns, Special Page in Kirby: Planet Robobot (EU) |
Galacta Knight (Here referred to as Galacta Knight Returns) is summoned as the final opponent for Meta Knight to face (after Dark Matter Clone and Sectonia Clone) in Meta Knightmare Returns. He immediately thanks his summoner, Star Dream, by slicing it along its base and causing it to topple over. Meta Knight must fight and defeat him again, all the while dealing with the magenta knight's new and powerful arsenal. Once defeated, Galacta Knight is re-sealed, and sent back from whence he came. Galacta Knight is also faced by Kirby in The True Arena.
Galacta Knight's attacks are basically the same as in Return to Dream Land but with a few changes. He also hovers on the ground like his debut in Kirby Super Star Ultra. The following lists all of Galacta Knight's additional attacks in Planet Robobot. Attacks in italics are used during the second phase only. To check his full attack list, also see his attacks in Kirby's Return to Dream Land.

Kirby Star Allies
Galacta Knight appears at the end of Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! to serve as the final boss. However, before he gets the chance, a strange butterfly lands on his lance and absorbs him, creating a new swordsman called Morpho Knight.
Galacta Knight's appearance and subsequent removal can be seen as a joke at the old warrior's expense, as his appearances were no longer a surprise.
Super Smash Bros. series
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Galacta Knight appears as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U only, featuring slightly different descriptions between North American version and European version.
North American version:
"With a theme song called "The Greatest Warrior in the Galaxy," you know this guy is serious business. Meta Knight does battle with him in Kirby Super Star Ultra. Also, he shows up in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, where he is the 13th boss you'll face in The True Arena."
European version:
"With a theme song called "The Greatest Warrior in the Galaxy," Galacta Knight is not a foe to be taken lightly. Meta Knight challenges him to a duel in Kirby Super Star Ultra, and Kirby can face him in the True Arena of Kirby's Adventure Wii. In both cases, he's the formidable fighter you'd expect him to be."
Japanese version:
"彼のテーマ曲は『銀河最強の戦士』である。そのことが、すべてを物語っているのだろう。カービィのライバルとされるメタナイトが、銀河最強の戦士の彼に戦いを挑んだのは、『ウルトラスーパーデラックス』でのお話だ。『星のカービィ Wii』では、カービィの前に立ちはだかる13番目の敵として登場する。"
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
While it's unknown whether Galacta Knight himself would appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Meta Knight has received a new alternative costume that resembles Galacta Knight.
Music
- Main article: The Greatest Warrior in the Galaxy
Galacta Knight's theme song is titled "The Greatest Warrior in the Galaxy". Originally a heavy metal style track, it has been remixed into different versions in Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby: Planet Robobot respectively, both remixes more techno-oriented.
Trivia
- Galacta Knight was sealed away because he was too powerful, but Meta Knight and Kirby have defeated him several times. Yet for some reason, they are not deemed "too powerful" to be sealed away as well.
- This is likely due to the notion that while Galacta Knight bore more power (able to destroy a planet or two) than either Kirby or Meta Knight, he was still defeated by them.
- Unlike most bosses, which lose over half of their health when hit by a Mach Tornado, Galacta Knight loses only a small fraction of his health, so it is best to save Meta Knight's energy for healing and calling a helper.
- One of Meta Knight's alternate color schemes in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U is based on Galacta Knight.
- Galacta Knight Mask is also one of Meta Knight's Headgears in Kirby Battle Royale.
- Unlike most other characters who share Kirby and Meta Knight's physique, Galacta Knight's feet are the same color as his body.
- Galacta Knight is among the audience in the Kirby Master movies from Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby: Triple Deluxe.
- The English version of Kirby: Planet Robobot pause screen for Galacta Knight is missing some lines found in the Japanese version. The original says that Galacta Knight was sealed many times over the ages but was never successfully destroyed. It also states that he was capable of bringing everything to ruin.[1]
- Additionally, during the 'Planet Robobot Ask-A-Thon', it was explained that Galacta Knight did not appreciate being yanked about through time and space by Star Dream, which was why he slashed the computer upon being released.
- According to a Miiverse post going over the winning drawing of the "Kirby: Planet Robobot Drawing and Screenshot Challenge", Galacta Knight was given '...an angelic, godlike look to contrast with Meta Knight’s bat-like wings.'
- Morpho Knight's dual sword attack shares the last two kanji of Galacta Knight's "dimensional rift laser" attack from Kirby Planet Robobot.

- Morpho Knight: 極楽冥王斬閃 Sukhavati Underworld-King Slash Flash
