This article is about Francisca on her own. For all three sisters, see The Three Mage-Sisters.
But I do not wish to waste my time with pointless chatter. So I won't! Just know that should you attempt to oppose us... I'll have no choice but to put you on ice...FOREVER!
— Francisca in Kirby Star Allies

Francisca is a boss who made her debut in Kirby Star Allies. She is described as the Frozen General of the Three Mage-Sisters (the other two being Flamberge and Zan Partizanne), and serves Hyness, the main antagonist of the game. She is voiced by Reina Ueda.

Her appearance is very similar to that of Susie, but she is dressed as a military general and doesn't have visible feet. She fights with her icy axe, ice-based magic, and a soda gun.

Francisca appears as a boss at the end of Longview Corridor and Blizzno Moon, as well as in Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! and The Ultimate Choice.

Attacks

Calm, cool, and collected, Frozen General Francisca is one of three mages at the head of Jambastion's forces. The freezing attacks she unleashes are enough to chill the very hearts of those who oppose her.

The following lists all of Francisca's attacks. Attacks in italics are used during the second phase only.

Francisca's Attacks during the first battle in Kirby Star Allies
Attack Description
Cisca Slash Francisca swings her axe downward.
Cisca Uppercut Francisca swings her axe upward.
Cisca Dash Francisca thrusts her axe forward.
Frozen Gelato Francisca throws her axe that spins with homing property.
If an ally is hit by the axe, they will get stuck on it and take continuous damage until the spinning is over.
This attack can be stopped by fire-based attacks (Fire itself and Sizzle-augment abilities).
氷菓ひょうか
Deadly Ice Candies
Francisca begins with this attack during the second phase of her first battle.

She tosses ice shards for 3 rounds: three shards in both the first round and the second round, and four shards in the final round.
The ice shards freeze the ground leaving Recoil Stars on impact, and can be turned into food when hit by fire-based attacks before landing.
The ice hazards on impact can be melted by fire-based attacks.

  • 氷菓ひょうか (Ice Candies)[1] is a kind of Japanese frozen dessert as well as wagashi (Japanese traditional confections).
クズキリ
Cisca Slam
Francisca continuously swings her axe down and up. Then, she finishes with a jump slash, creating ice hazards and stars on impact.
  • クズ means East Asian arrowroot and クズキリ can also mean noodles made from said plants. キリ can be written as 切 (cut).
Shaken Soda Blaster Francisca conjures a soda gun, shakes it, and fires water shots that ricochet off the ground and the ceiling, leaving stars on impact.
She will fire 3 rounds: horizontally (slightly altering the angle mid-fire) in the first round, diagonally upward in the second round, and diagonally downward in the final round.
  • Water shots can be frozen by ice-based attacks (Ice itself and Blizzard-augment abilities) or blocked by Parasol and Chumbrella.
  • If electric-based attacks (Beam, ESP, Plasma, and Zap-augment abilities) hit the water shots, it will electrocute Francisca, leaving her stunned and vulnerable to attacks from Kirby & his allies.
Elegant Escape Francisca leaps to the other side of the stage. Flamberge shares the same movement too.
Attack names are taken from the Japanese guide book and the English version of the Dream Friend moveset.

In her first phase, Francisca attacks in a fixed order on loop as follows:

  1. Cisca Slash x2
  2. Cisca Slash x4
  3. Cisca Dash
  4. Cisca Upper + Cisca Slam
  5. Frozen Gelato
  6. Cisca Dash
  7. Cisca Slash
  8. Cisca Slash
  9. Cisca Slash x4
  10. Cisca Dash
  11. Cisca Upper + Cisca Slam
  12. Cisca Dash
  13. Cisca Slash
  14. Cisca Slash
  15. Frozen Gelato
  16. Cisca Slash x2
  17. Cisca Dash
Undeterred from her quest to find the dark hearts that have rained down across the galaxy, the Frozen General is back and tougher than ever before! Her duties have kept her away from Flamberge lately… She kind of misses her.
— Pause flavor text of Francisca (2nd battle in Blizzno Moon) in Story Mode and Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go!

When she is fought again on Blizzno Moon, Francisca's attacks are more elaborate, but still fundamentally the same.

Francisca's Attacks during the second battle in Kirby Star Allies
Attack Description
Elegant Escape Francisca leaps to the other side of the stage. Flamberge shares the same movement too.
クズキリ
Cisca Slash + Cisca Dash + Cisca Uppercut + Cisca Slam
Francisca may perform this multi-slash combo during the first phase of her second battle.
Gran Frozen Gelato Similar to 'Frozen Gelato' in her first battle, but the spinning axe becomes larger now.
Fran Freeze Francisca performs a jump slash and then drags her axe on the ground, leaving ice hazards on her path which can be melted by fire-based attacks.
Shaken Soda Slider

Francisca begins with this attack during the second phase of her second battle.

She will fire 2 rounds of water shots instead: diagonally upward in the first round, (leaps to the other side of the stage) and diagonally downward in the second round.
The water shots ricochet more often than in her first battle. She also alters the angle of shot mid-fire in both rounds.

氷菓ひょうかれん
Continuous Ice Candies
Francisca tosses the same number of ice shards for 3 rounds as in her first battle, but they change their directions in midair.
Attack names are taken from the Japanese guide book and the English version of the Dream Friend moveset.

Music

Main article: Song of Supplication

Francisca's battle theme, shared by Flamberge, is titled "Song of Supplication". The song title and three verses of the lyrics are shown on the pause menu screens from Francisca, Flamberge, and Zan Partizanne during their battles in The Ultimate Choice.

Trivia

  • Francisca's English name is directly taken from the name of a particular type of axe, fitting due to her choice of weapon.
  • After her reveal in the January 11th Nintendo Direct, Francisca became the avatar used on Kirby's official JP Twitter feed to present updates for Star Allies content and news, similar to Susie for Planet Robobot and the spin-offs therein. She would eventually share this role with the other two Mage-Sisters after they had been introduced.
