The level starts with simple walking and a few enemies. Kirby (and Prince Fluff in the Wii version's co-op mode) need to only employ basic  controls to pass through Fountain Gardens. Using extra powers such as  Pendulum and submarine generally lead to more beads, hidden  treasures, and opening new routes in the area. The first half of the area is rather peaceful and contains only a few enemies Waddle Dees ,  Ooki , and Blippers. The final pair of Waddle Dees are leaning on one another beneath trees and a group of red beads in the form of a heart.

The second portion of Fountain Gardens begins when the Metamortex Tankbot is activated. The Tankbot abilities are briefly covered in an animated window. the player must pivot the wiimote (as though it were the actual Tankbot cannon) to aim missiles. The setting becomes forested and the string of enemies are seemingly constant. Bronto Burts flock towards the Tankbot carrying missiles or jewels. Waddle Dees are also throwing an endless supply of missiles to attack. A few sections can be pounded down with the missiles in order to pass them, but the final wall is actually a Reel Gate. The Reel Gates end the Metamortex transformation and generally are near the end of the area.

The final task of all areas is to ring the Bonus Bell. The bell is attached to a wheel in which varying amounts of stars could appear if the pieces were found in the area. The stars add to the number of beads gained. The Fountain Gardens music and two decoration items Flower Sofa and Fountain can be obtained. Upon clearing the area for the first time, the Butterfly Patch will be awarded to open Flower Fields. Fountain Gardens also reappears in Sub-games with tenants of Dom Woole's apartments. Zeke offers a Hide-and-Seek game requiring five characters similar to Zeke to be found in 3:00. Carrie offers her Going Out delivery game, in which she must be carried to a certain area in 1:00. And Mara offers a Race. All of the neighbors reward a Fabric upon the first completion of the sub-game.

Fountain Gardens is the first stage in the Grass Land of Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn. To enter this stage, Kirby needs the Magic Yarn from Quilty Square. Fountain Gardens' background sets the stage as a garden with many manicured plants, trellises, and trees growing buttons. Foreground objects include small bridges, fountains, and even a building that appears to be a stone castle. The area contains three small pools of water in which Kirby can use his Submarine form. Many of the beads in the area form the shape of flowers.

Upon clearing the stage for the first time, the Butterfly Patch is obtained, unlocking the next stage, Flower Fields. Fountain Gardens is the inspiration for the first stage of Slash & Bead in Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn.

Overview[edit]

The stage starts with simple walking and a few enemies. Kirby (and Prince Fluff in the Wii version's co-op mode) need to only employ basic controls to pass through Fountain Gardens, as he traverses past stone buildings, trees, and fountains that can launch him into the sky. Using extra powers such as Pendulum and Submarine generally lead to more beads and hidden treasures. The first half of the stage is rather peaceful and features relatively few enemies, such as Waddle Dees, an Ooki, and Blippers.

Metamortex stretch[edit]

Eventually, the scenary changes, and Kirby enters a forest. Here, the Tankbot Metamortex transformation is first introduced. After a brief tutorial, Bronto Burts flock towards the Tankbot carrying missiles and beads, while Waddle Dees throw an endless supply of missiles to attack Kirby with. As Kirby progresses, a few sections of ground can be pounded down with the Tankbot's missiles in order to pass them, before Kirby eventually reaches the Reel Gate. The stage ends shortly afterwards.
