Fountain Gardens is the first stage in the Grass Land of Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn. To enter this stage, Kirby needs the Magic Yarn from Quilty Square. Fountain Gardens' background sets the stage as a garden with many manicured plants, trellises, and trees growing buttons. Foreground objects include small bridges, fountains, and even a building that appears to be a stone castle. The area contains three small pools of water in which Kirby can use his Submarine form. Many of the beads in the area form the shape of flowers.
Upon clearing the stage for the first time, the Butterfly Patch is obtained, unlocking the next stage, Flower Fields. Fountain Gardens is the inspiration for the first stage of Slash & Bead in Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn.
Overview[edit]
The stage starts with simple walking and a few enemies. Kirby (and Prince Fluff in the Wii version's co-op mode) need to only employ basic controls to pass through Fountain Gardens, as he traverses past stone buildings, trees, and fountains that can launch him into the sky. Using extra powers such as Pendulum and Submarine generally lead to more beads and hidden treasures. The first half of the stage is rather peaceful and features relatively few enemies, such as Waddle Dees, an Ooki, and Blippers.
Metamortex stretch[edit]
Eventually, the scenary changes, and Kirby enters a forest. Here, the Tankbot Metamortex transformation is first introduced. After a brief tutorial, Bronto Burts flock towards the Tankbot carrying missiles and beads, while Waddle Dees throw an endless supply of missiles to attack Kirby with. As Kirby progresses, a few sections of ground can be pounded down with the Tankbot's missiles in order to pass them, before Kirby eventually reaches the Reel Gate. The stage ends shortly afterwards.
