Cutscene

On the shore of a small island, Kirby tries his hand at fishing. He pulls out a Blipper, then inhales it, getting the remaining fishing hook stuck decidedly in his mouth.

Synopsis

The level begins on the shore of a flat island, with a couple palm trees on it, and a plain view of the ocean in the background. To the left, the water can be accessed, but care should be taken not to swim too deep, or Kirby will lose a life. The actual path continues to the right, which leads to a plethora of enemies to deal with. One of them, past a couple star blocks, is a clam-like enemy called a Wizzer. It fires beams from its eye, but cannot be inhaled when its shell is closed. The easiest way to defeat it is to shoot a projectile at it from afar while it's firing its beam. Further ahead, some of the palm trees hold coconuts. Kirby should be wary, as he appears to have the worst luck in all of Dream Land. These coconuts are sure to fall when he passes under them, and will also explode to top it all off. Kirby can inhale them to subvert this. From there, the island gives way to open water, with disparate and dispersed platforms therein. Kirby will have to progress with care, as there is not a lot of leeway to deal with the enemies holding ground on the islets. There are also numerous enemies making trouble in the water. The door to the next section can be found along some plateaus at the right end of the screen.

The door leads to a cave, with the path leading to the right. Kirby should mind the spikes in the ceiling and in the floor as he descends the first shaft. To the left from here past a blockade of several star blocks is an Energy Drink, which Kirby may well need after the previous section. As he ascends the next shaft to the right, Kirby should mind the coconut that will fall on him by surprise if he didn't see it on the way down. There are two paths to take from here. One in particular is an apparent dead end, a large pile of star blocks in the corner. However, there is a hidden doorway behind one of them. This leads to a separate area that consists of a long swim to receive a 1Up, then returns to the cave. The path downward leads past lots of spikes and annoying warping Kabu. The most notable obstacle is a Gordo in front of a barrier of star blocks. From there, two more paths can be taken. The upper one leads to a luscious Maxim Tomato. The lower leads to the next section.

The door leads back out to the islets. Past a body of water, Kirby can then board a wooden ship, and eat a dish of Superspicy Curry to deal with the crew. Along the way, Kirby can access a cabin to acquire a few more items. Further along, past a number of Shotzos, the door to the next section can be reached on the right.

The door leads to a room inside the skip, where Kirby can access a Warp Star. From there, he flies off, out of the ship, and into the background toward a large black shadow. This turns out to be a whale, as Kirby then gets stuck inside its blowhole. The whale then shoots him out, which sends him flying high into the sky.

Kirby lands in a cloud canopy, with a number of striped columns in the background. The path continues to the right, past a couple of enemies, until a Mint Leaf is encountered. Touching this causes Kirby to swell up, and be able to release multiple air puffs without landing, essentially hiccuping through the sky. With this unorthodox method of attack, Kirby then engages in an aerial battle with Kabula, the boss of the level. In order to defeat this angry blimp, Kirby has to simply keep firing at her, all the while avoiding her attacks. Defeating Kabula allows Kirby to collect the third Sparkling Star and proceed to the next level, Bubbly Clouds.

Kirby Super Star

In Spring Breeze in Kirby Super Star and its remake, this stage incorporates elements from Castle Lololo, as the latter does not appear in the game. Lololo & Lalala replace Kabula as the stage's bosses, with Kabula only being fought in Mt. Dedede Sky in Revenge of the King.

Trivia

  • This stage introduced items such as the Mint Leaf and the Superspicy Curry. However, these items would never appear again in a main series Kirby installment, instead only making brief cameos in spinoffs and sub-games, having been made obsolete by the introduction of Copy Abilities in later titles.
  • This is the only level in Kirby's Dream Land which does not feature a Mid-Boss.
