Dekabu is an extra large Kabu and an uncommon enemy in the Kirby series. Unlike its smaller cousins, Dekabu possesses a noticeably more human-like face, making it slightly reminiscent of the head of a moai.

Game Appearances

Kirby's Block Ball

Dekabu in Kirby's Block Ball.

Dekabu makes its first appearance as the boss of Stage 3 in this title, though it is not explicitly named as such. Dekabu has 12 hit points. Dekabu attacks by conjuring smaller Kabus around itself, then sending them out. These Kabus can reduce the size of paddles that they hit.

Dekabu is worth 50000 points when defeated.

Kirby's Dream Land 3

File:KDL3SprDekabu.png Dekabus are first encountered in the fourth stage of Grass Land and appear sporadically throughout the game. They always start out at the bottom of a covered hole in the ground, where they wait for Kirby to get in front of them, completely immobile until he does. When the pink hero enters their field of vision, however, they suddenly become active, barking at him three times before leaping straight upwards and landing on the platform covering their hiding place. Once seated on top, they proceed to spit out three smaller versions of themselves, which advance forward with continuous hops and can be inhaled or destroyed using any attack, but yield no Copy Abilities. Once all three of its helpers have been released, the Dekabu falls back into the hole it started out in, but will continue to repeat its attack pattern from the beginning at regular intervals as long as Kirby remains within its range.

Due to its size, a Dekabu cannot be inhaled, but can be defeated in a single hit by using any other attack.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe & Kirby: Planet Robobot

Dekabu first appeared in 3-D in Kirby: Triple Deluxe. Its appearance is updated in that its head resembles the crenelations of a medieval castle tower, making it look somewhat like a sandcastle. It spits out Kabu from its mouth given the chance, and has a great deal of HP. It also appears in Kirby: Planet Robobot, serving the same purpose.

Language Name Meaning

Trivia

  • Besides Doka, Dekabu is the only enemy in Kirby's Dream Land 3 that is shown in the bad ending but does not have any official artwork.
