Don't worry, though! This next one should quash your rebellion. He was created from the latest in nanogenetic technology. He's ruthless. He's driven. He's...a clone of royal proportions! Heehee! And it seems he has a long-standing grudge against you! Get ready for... Model #D-0030 Dedede Clone! Here, see that little pink nuisance? Destroy it!
— Susie in Kirby: Planet Robobot

Dedede Clone is a Boss fought in Kirby: Planet Robobot, appearing as the boss of Rhythm Route. It was created by the Haltmann Works Company using King Dedede's D.N.A., and filled with an urge to destroy Kirby.

Game appearances

Kirby: Planet Robobot

Dedede Clone first appears at the end of the Rhythm Route, appearing as a small purple blob inside a test tube held by Susie. Susie introduces it to Kirby, giving it the full designation Model #D-0030 Dedede Clone. She unleashes the clone from its test tube and gets away using her helicopter drone, leaving the clone to deal with Kirby.

Dedede Clone 2.0 sports a pale yellow coloration, and appears in Meta Knightmare Returns, as well as The True Arena. It has the ability to fire energy blasts from its hammer.

Boss Fight

Susie somehow managed to acquire DNA from King Dedede, one of the strongest life-forms on the planet, in order to create this clone. It has the voice and look of the original Dedede...and may be even more powerful.

The following lists all of Dedede Clone's attacks in Kirby: Planet Robobot. Attacks in italics are only used by Dedede Clone 2.0.

Dedede Clone inhales Kirby in Phase 1 of the fight.
Attacks - Phase 1
Attack Description
Hypernova Inhale
Dedede Clone inhales, creating a big vortex. If Kirby is trapped, he will be spat out at the screen.
Head Slide
Dedede Clone dives onto the ground, leaving a star on impact.
Hammer Swing
Dedede Clone conjures a large hammer, and, assuming Kirby is grounded upon getting close to him, swings it into the ground, leaving a star on impact. Can do this multiple times in succession.
Hammer Slam
If Kirby is in the air while the Dedede Clone has the hammer out, it will instead jump and crash to the ground with its hammer, creating a shockwave and two stars on impact.
Super Dedede Jump
Dedede Clone hops into the air, and attempts to land on Kirby, creating two stars on impact.
Hover
Dedede Clone puffs up and chases Kirby through the air.
Energy Strike
Dedede Clone 2.0 creates two orbs of energy, and swats them at Kirby with his hammer. They leave stars on impact.
Energy Storm
Dedede Clone 2.0 causes a rain of energy orbs to pelt the stage.

In phase 1, the clone always starts with these attacks:

  1. Hypernova Inhale
  2. Head Slide
  3. Head Slide
  4. Hammer Swing/Slam

After that, it will attack in a fixed order on loop as follows:

  1. Super Dedede Jump x3
  2. Head Slide
  3. Hammer Swing/Slam
  4. Hover
  5. Hypernova Inhale
  6. Hover
  7. Hammer Swing/Slam
  8. Hover
  9. Hammer Swing/Slam
  10. Super Dedede Jump

When the Dedede Clone is knocked down to half health, it momentarily turns back into goo, then reforms into three smaller Dedede clones. After their Hammer Farmer attack, all three clones attack independently of each other, though only two of them at most can attack at once. These clones can be individually stunned, turning back into goo for a short time. After recovering, they Super Dedede Jump back to battle. Each time the Dedede Clones are knocked into blobs, they shrink in size, until they are roughly the same size as Kirby.

The three split clones sweep the stage with their hammers in Phase 2 of the fight.
Attacks - Phase 2
Attack Description
Hammer Farmer
The clones all swing their hammers in unison, moving across the stage, like how a farmer harvests with a sickle. On completion, the hammers release shockwaves, which produce stars when they dissipate.
Super Dedede Jump
The clones hop into the air and attempt to pounce Kirby, leaving stars on impact.
Head Slide
The clones dive onto the ground, leaving stars on impact.
Hammer Swing
The clones conjure hammers, and, assuming Kirby is grounded upon getting close to them, swing them into the ground, leaving a star on impact.
Hammer Slam
If Kirby is in the air while the clones have their hammers out, they will instead jump and crash to the ground with their hammers, creating a shockwave and two stars on impact.
Puff Up
The clones puff up and chase Kirby through the air.
Synchronized Head Slide
The clones dive onto the ground in a line, covering much of the stage. They then turn and slide across the ground again.

Once the clones split into three, they start with this attack:

  • Hammer Farmer

After that, the three clones may perform any of these attacks at random:

  • Head Slide
  • Super Dedede Jump
  • Hover
  • Hammer Swing/Slam

Once Dedede Clone is defeated, it collapses into three individual goo puddles. As the platform they were standing on then reaches the top of the building, a large mech bearing Dedede's colTemplate:Ors appears from the hatch in the center, and the clones hop on it, leading into the Dedede Clones & D3 battle (the details of that fight are on their own separate page).

It has the look and voice of King Dedede, but not his soul. Some things can't be cloned. Some of the trial models were only interested in food, some were fearful of a certain insect, and all were imperfect.

  2. Energy Strike
  3. Head Slide
  4. Energy Storm
  5. Hypernova Inhale
  6. Hover
  7. Head Slide
  8. Head Slide
  9. Hammer Swing/Slam
  10. Super Dedede Jump x3

After that, its attack order is on loop as follows:

  2. Hammer Swing/Slam
  3. Hover
  4. Hypernova Inhale
  5. Hover
  6. Super Dedede Jump x3
  7. Hover
  8. Super Dedede Jump x3
  9. Head Slide

  • Head Slide

Trivia

  • Like Mecha Knight, Dedede Clone's model number is a Japanese pun: D-0030 can be read as "King Dedede" in Japanese.
    • D = Dedede
    • 00 (Ō) + 3 (sa) + 0 (ma) = Ōsama (King)
