"Dark Crafter Battle" is a theme from Kirby and the Rainbow Curse that plays throughout the battle against Dark Crafter, the final boss of the game.

Composition[edit]

The final battle against Dark Crafter.

"Dark Crafter Battle" is an ominous-sounding orchestral theme that primarily uses the key of G Minor and is played at 176 beats per minute with a 4/4 time signature. The song begins with an intro primarily made of a repeating arpeggio before segmenting into a section that features primarily string instruments accompanied by a faint, fast-paced piano playing arpeggio notes as well as a horn playing longer notes later on. The second section switches to a melody that sounds much like "Great Cave Escape", which is played on strings and is accompanied by a choir in the background. Afterwards, it transitions to C Minor to play part of "Kirby Rocket's Big Blastoff" (which resembles "Fly to the Exit" in structure this time), to emphasize the usage of Kirby Rocket in the boss battle itself.

The last major leitmotif to be featured in the song is "The Adventure Begins", which plays in F Minor and is done primarily by string and brass instruments. Afterwards, it transitions to a final section in the same key and uses a piano-played arpeggio similar to the song's intro while accompanied by distorted space-like ambience.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[edit]

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is so far the only game appearance of this theme, played during the final battle against Dark Crafter. After defeating said boss, the song can be found as Track 117 in the Music Room.

Other appearances[edit]

"Dark Crafter Battle" also appears in The Sound of Kirby Café as part of the ninth track: "Rendezvous of the King and the Witches / Kirby Series Extra Game Medley", an upbeat jazz medley which also features "C-R-O-W-N-E-D (Reprise)" and "Drawcia Soul". This medley was arranged by Megumi Ohara.
