"Dangerous Dinner" is a level hub theme from Kirby's Return to Dream Land. This theme plays for the level of the same name, and was composed by Hirokazu Ando.

Composition[edit]

"Dangerous Dinner" is a fast-paced, intense theme in the key of D minor, and can be seen as a darker version of "The Adventure Begins". This features a piano ostinato in the low registers with heavy percussion. A trombone-like instrument plays the first portion of the melody, which is borrowed from "Four Adventurers: Cookie Country" as heard in "The Adventure Begins". This portion is played a second time (albeit with some extra instrumentation) before it switches to the second portion. This latter half is played by a higher-pitched woodwind lead instrument and borrows the main melody from "The Adventure Begins". This part is also played again, but with a different ending. After eight bars of instrumentation reminiscent an interlude from the aforementioned theme, the track loops.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby's Return to Dream Land / Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]

Kirby in the area where "Dangerous Dinner" plays.

As stated above, this theme plays for the hub world for Dangerous Dinner. It also plays on the title screen of The True Arena in the original version. This theme is the 64th track in the Sound Test and the 115th for the remake's Jukebox.

Exclusively in the remake, "Supreme Ruler's Coronation - OVERLORD" from Kirby Star Allies and "A Dangerous, High-Flying Finale" from Kirby Fighters 2 are both reused: the former as the theme of Magolor Soul's battle in The True Arena, while the latter as the The True Arena title screen theme and also the rest area theme before the Extra Mode bosses.

Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition[edit]

In Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition, "Dangerous Dinner" serves as the theme for the guides prior to Magolor Race 3 and Magolor Race EX.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

"Dangerous Dinner" plays prior to the Final Four of The True Arena in Kirby: Triple Deluxe. It can be found as track 122 in the Jukebox.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]

During Morpho Knight's boss battle, if player 1 is Magolor, Morpho Knight's theme will be replaced by a medley of multiple themes from Kirby's Return to Dream Land related to Magolor, and "Dangerous Dinner" is among them. This medley is titled "Supreme Ruler's Coronation - OVERLORD" in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, and it was arranged by Hirokazu Ando.

The original song can be heard in the Soul Melter EX difficulty of The Ultimate Choice, playing during the rest area before battling Parallel Dedede.

Kirby Fighters 2[edit]

A remix of "Dangerous Dinner" paired with "Heading for 0²" plays in the Item Rooms of the last five floors of the Final Chapter of Story Mode: The Destined Rivals. It is called "A Dangerous, High-Flying Finale" and was arranged by Yuki Shimooka.[1]

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

The original version of the theme appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It can be selected on any Kirby stage, Final Destination, Battlefield and its derivatives.

Other appearances[edit]

The theme was played live as part of the "Kirby's Return to Dream Land Medley" of the Kirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert.

Trivia[edit]

  • Not counting the various ambient sounds internally considered music tracks, "Dangerous Dinner" and "Let Me Explain Everything" are the only music tracks from Kirby's Return to Dream Land to not be remastered in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe.
