Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

Kirby utilizing Curling

In Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Curling is a Power Combo of the Stone and Ice abilities. From there, Kirby need simply activate it to go sliding, freezing any foe in his path. While sliding, Kirby cannot control his movement, and will bounce off walls. He is effectively invulnerable while sliding. To end the move, Kirby must either wait until he comes to a complete stop, or simply use the ability again while sliding.

Kirby Star Allies

Kirby uses Ice Curling in the Donut Dome stage in Star Allies.

In Kirby Star Allies, Curling returns, though this time it comes in three distinct forms. While Kirby or an ally is in stone form, a friend with the Water or Ice abilities can use an ability attack on the Stone user to transform them into the Curling stone. Using Splash attacks from abilities like Water will cause Splash Curling, which causes the stone to fly forward while spraying its surroundings with water. The second, known as Ice Curling, functions more like its predecessor from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, though it creates a frozen surface as it travels. The third is Clean Curling, made by using Bluster attacks from Cleaning to cause the stone to fly forward at high speed with wind effect. Aside from the effect, Clean Curling also falls more slowly in the air than the other two.

Using Curling, Kirby can pound Posts sticking out of walls, but not those on the floor. Rocky, Rick, and Gooey can also turn into Curling stones.
