- This article is about the hazard in various Kirby games. For the object in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, see Knock-Knock Nut.
A Coconut[1] is a hazard introduced in Kirby's Dream Land. It is based on an actual coconut and is spherical with a thick line in the middle. Its color is mostly brown, with some green patches. Coconuts are immobile, usually found hanging from trees. If Kirby walks underneath a tree with a Coconut hanging from it, the Coconut will fall down, exploding when it reaches the ground or if it comes in contact with Kirby. Coconuts can be blocked if Kirby has the Parasol ability. They can also be inhaled (though granting no ability when swallowed) or destroyed with any attack. Apart from being found in set locations, Coconuts also appear with Bonkers, almost always being thrown by him, even in games where they are otherwise absent.
Game appearances
Kirby's Dream Land
Coconuts make their first appearance in Kirby's Dream Land. Here, they appear only in the Float Islands stage and the Float Islands portion of Mt. DeDeDe. They are worth 100 points when defeated, and are not replaced by anything in the Extra Game.
Kirby's Adventure / Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
Coconuts return in Kirby's Adventure and Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, serving the same function as before. This is also the first time they are seen being tossed by Bonkers.

Coconuts can be found in the following levels and stages:

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Coconuts are very rare, only appearing in the first stage of Onion Ocean. Among these are large coconuts which require a Super Inhale to eat and make big explosions when they drop or are attacked. Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe also uses them in the fourth stage of the Poseiblu Dimension in the Magolor Epilogue, which is an altered version of the aforementioned Onion Ocean stage.
Other appearances
As mentioned earlier, the Mid-Boss Bonkers throws Coconuts as part of his regular arsenal of attacks, so Coconuts do make appearances in every game that Bonkers does, albeit not necessarily as enemies. Additionally, in Kirby Mass Attack, Waddle Dees can also be seen tossing Coconuts.
Trivia
- Foleys, enemies that were introduced in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, are very similar to Coconuts, attacking in the same way and sometimes being found in similar locations.
