"Welcome to Wondaria" is a stage theme from Kirby and the Forgotten Land associated with Wondaria Remains. It was composed by Jun Ishikawa.[1]

Composition[edit]

First impressions of Wondaria Remains.

"Welcome to Wondaria" is a bittersweet theme in C major and 4/4. It starts off with an intro with clap-like beats. An electric guitar plays a descending scale, and the cheerful yet somewhat nostalgic melody comes in with a rougher electric guitar which distorts octaves, evoking the image of broken speakers. This melody is structurally similar to its composer's later creations, in particular "Snowball Scuffle". The melody is played again, now by a softer synthesizer. The second section introduces lead brass, and the melody is inversed and less cheerful due to the modulation to C minor. Halfway through this section, a G to A-flat trill can be heard; a similar trill belongs to "Moonlight Capital". The inverted melody of the second section evolves into one closer to the aforementioned track. At the lowest brass point, a fourth plays up and back down, and afterwards a slow ascent follows back to a more stable tonic, where it finds proper resolution. The electric guitar from the intro gives a short dominant transition back to the intro, and the track loops.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby and the Forgotten Land[edit]

In Kirby and the Forgotten Land, "Welcome to Wondaria" is introduced in the eponymous stage, and also plays throughout Circuit Speedway and the outdoors area of Invasion at the House of Horrors.

Additionally, a livelier arrangement in G major titled "Circuit Speedway" plays during the two Car Mouth races in Circuit Speedway. This arrangement was composed by Yuki Shimooka. Notably, the minor portion features a drastic change in tempo and meter, being in 6/8.

Kirby's Dream Buffet[edit]

In Kirby's Dream Buffet, "Circuit Speedway", titled "Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Memorial Song 2" in-game, can be unlocked as music that has a chance of playing during races upon reaching Gourmet Rank 98.

Other appearances[edit]

"Circuit Speedway" is part of Track 08, "Go Go! Kirby Race Medley", in the Kirby 30th Anniversary Music Festival along with other themes associated with races.
