Chumbrella

Chumbrella is a special Friend Ability which allows Parasol Kirby or Parasol Waddle Dee to make said parasol grow giant. While giant, the Parasol will stop waterfalls from getting through, and can also shield allies from powerful attacks coming from above. Chumbrella appears as a technique in Kirby Star Allies. To activate it, the player needs simply to hold up on the control stick or D-pad. Unlike most other Friend Abilities, Chumbrella does not require help from any friends to activate.
The name 'Chumbrella' is a portmanteau of the words 'chum' (slang for friend) and 'umbrella' (another word for Parasol).
Trivia
- During the initial E3 reveal of Kirby Star Allies, the Chumbrella looked like the standard parasol, albeit the same increased proportions. The unique heart design was added in later, before the release.
- Chumbrella is one of the four Friend Abilities which does not actually require Friends to be present to perform, the others being Friend Bounce, Still Life and Al Fresco.
