Broom Hatter (alternatively spelt Broomhatter[1]) is an enemy recurring throughout the Kirby series. Since her debut in Kirby's Dream Land, the first Template:Installment of the series, she has continued to make constant appearances.

Appearance

Broom Hatter's basic appearance is that of a short, yellow creature with no visible face, wearing a black, pointed hat (similar to that of a stereotypical witch) and brown shoes. She always carries a broom with her, which she usually uses for sweeping the ground. She is a relatively harmless and basic foe, whose behaviTemplate:Or does not change much between games.

Game Appearances

In this game, Broom Hatters behave noticeably differently than in most of their later appearances. They walk left and right rather quickly while sweeping the ground with their brooms and occasionally jump. Kirby can defeat them using any of his standard attacks. Broom Hatters are not replaced by any other enemy in the Extra Game.

Kirby's Dream Course

Broom Hatters, spelt Broomhatters in the manual,[1] appear as one of the four basic enemy types in Kirby's Dream Course, the others being Kabu, Waddle Dee and Squishy. Much like the latter three, Broom Hatters do not move or possess any special abilities, simply waiting on the ground instead for Kirby to hit them and transform them into a star. They are found in all of the game's Courses.

Kirby Super Star/Kirby Super Star Ultra

In Kirby Super Star and its enhanced remake, Kirby Super Star Ultra, Broom Hatters move slower than in their original appearance and cannot jump, instead simply walking back and forth on a platform while cleaning. They periodically speed up their movements a little and then slow down again in accordance with the sweeping motion of their brooms.

Kirby's Dream Land 3

In Kirby's Dream Land 3, Broom Hatters are first encountered in the fifth stage of Grass Land. Unlike in all other Template:Installments of the Kirby series, they yield a Copy Ability in this game - by inhaling and swallowing a Broom Hatter, Kirby can acquire the Clean ability, which, in its basic form, allows him to use a broom very similar in appearance to that used by these enemies. Apart from this, their behaviTemplate:Or remains mostly the same as in Kirby Super Star, although they move slightly faster and cover a greater distance with each sweep.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Broom Hatters once again appear as a common enemy, appearing in the very first stage and in many other locations. They do not provide any Copy Abilities, and will simply sweep their brooms across the ground where they patrol.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe

Broom Hatters return in Kirby: Triple Deluxe, though they remains identical in form and function to their appearance in Return to Dream Land.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

A Broom Hatter appears in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. She is seen in the intro along with Cappy and Waddle Doo, where she and the two have their color gone when Claycia steals Popstar's colors. File:KatRC Broom Hatter.jpg

Kirby: Planet Robobot

Broom Hatter returns again in Kirby: Planet Robobot, acting like in Triple Deluxe.

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe

Broom Hatter makes a cameo appearance in this game, sweeping the floor of the village in the background after the first Ordeal is passed.

Kirby: Star Allies

Broom Hatter returns once again in Kirby: Star Allies. She now grants the Cleaning ability, and is the helper for that ability.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U trophy description

"Broom Hatter is an apprentice witch with the hat to match. She uses her trademark broom to fly through the-- Wait. No, she just sweeps the floor with it. Maybe she's just a bit of a clean freak. Or maybe she hasn't learned to fly yet. After all, she's only an apprentice. Except...in Kirby Air Ride, she DOES fly, so there goes that theory..." File:SSBU Broom Hatter trophy.jpg
