Beetley is a round creature with two small feet and a beetle-like crest that debuted in Kirby: Triple Deluxe. He grants the Beetle ability when swallowed by Kirby.

In many ways, Beetley looks similar to Bronto Burt, but he bears a different color scheme, has more indented eyes, and a beetle's crest on his head. Despite having wings, Beetley does not typically fly, instead choosing to pace along the ground and try to impale any intruders he sees. Beetley, despite his carapace, is not the toughest enemy in the world.

In the Kirby novel seriesEdit

An illustration of a Beetley from Kirby: Uproar at the Kirby Café?!.

In the Kirby novel series, a swarm of Beetleys appears in Kirby: Uproar at the Kirby Café?!. When Kirby touches a spider's web, it creates an alarm which alerts the swarm of Beetleys. Hornhead commands the Beetleys to attack Kirby and King Dedede. They steal Dedede's hammer, wrap Kirby and Dedede in spider silk and throw them into jail. Later, a Beetley who is responsible to give them food in jail tells Kirby and Dedede about the fruit they harvested in the pantry, causing them to try escaping. Beetley blocks their way but is blown away. After Kirby and King Dedede go to the pantry, a swarm of Beetleys finds them. When Kirby inhales Hornhead, the Beetleys are terrified and call for their leader, Bugzzy, for help against him. After being defeated, Bugzzy commends the Beetleys to give Kirby and Dedede the Green Spider Grass.

TriviaEdit

  • The Kirby Star Allies pause caption for Beetley refers to him as the 'new king of insects', who 'wants to challenge the old one'. This old king refers to Bugzzy, who also appears as a friend in Kirby Star Allies.
