Baumkuchen is one of the eight Race stages in Kirby's Dream Buffet. It is available at the start, and has the Kirbys racing along winding and wavy tracks made of colorful layered spit-fired pastry.
Overview[edit]
This stage has a much narrower and wavier track than most, with many winding and hilly paths, as well as crossing through the inside of tube-like structures. Though there are a handful of places where the path diverges in a doughnut-like manner, the path is mostly straightforward and linear, with only one major divergence near the end. As expected from the name, the primary material that builds this course is Baumkuchen, but the paths are decorated with a lot of other condiments and treats, including lollipops, gummy candies, wafer rolls, hard candies, cookies, and cutlery. There are also a few spots where chocolate puddles can be found which may impede racers.
Variants of this stage differ in the particulars, but they all follow the same basic structure and have the following sections in the following order:
- A wavy and hilly path with at least one whole Baumkuchen platform along the way, leading up to a Crumbling Cookie Wall.
- A narrow path leading up to a halfpipe-like structure, or vice-versa.
- A series of tracks that contain lots of small offshoot paths, and may also split into two main paths before reconverging at another crumbling cookie wall.
- A long tube made of segments that revolve independently before reaching the end of the stage.
Variant details[edit]
The following are noteworthy details for each variant of this stage that cause them to differ from one-another. Note that each variant is named after the color of the background:

Red variant
|
This variant features Baumkuchen of many pastel tones, mainly focused around reds, blues, and purples.
|
- The first path waves toward the left, then swerves back right to cross a whole Baumkuchen, then crosses two sets of hilly bridges that zig-zag right then left again before reaching the first Crumbling Cookie Wall.
- The halfpipe area immediately follows the first wall, then is followed by a sinusoidal path with small offshoot bridges crossing the gaps before reaching the second crumbling cookie wall.
- The rotating segmented pipe is relatively free of hazards, and has relatively few 5-stack strawberry piles or mission fruit.
|
Yellow variant
|
For this variant, the Baumkuchen is largely pale green and yellow in tone, with some splotches of red here and there.
|
- The first path waves toward the left, then swerves back right to cross a whole Baumkuchen, then crosses two sets of hilly bridges that zig-zag right then left again before reaching the first Crumbling Cookie Wall past a large circular platform.
- The halfpipe area can be found after another short trackway crossing another Baumkuchen platform with a narrow cookie bridge on the left side.
- The area leading up to the second crumbling wall features a mostly whole Baumkuchen followed by a large split path that reconverges at the wall.
- The rotating segmented pipe is relatively free of hazards, and has relatively few 5-stack strawberry piles or mission fruit.

Green variant
|
This variant features multicolored Baumkuchen slices, with the most prominent colors being pastel tones of purple, blue, and yellow.

Blue variant
|
Contrary to the background color, the Baumkuchen here is very red, orange, and yellow. The coloration is also very bright compared to other variants.
