An Area Patch is a special item in Kirby's Epic Yarn which is used to open all stages beyond the first in each land. The majority of patches are earned simply by completing stages, though the patches to extra levels can only be obtained by collecting enough bead points in the appropriate prior stages (usually Boss stages). There are six area patches in each land, except for Quilty Square, which has none.

Each patch, when used, causes a unique animation to play on the level map in order to unlock its respective stage.

Grass Land Patches

The following is a table showing each patch in Grass Land in order, along with other details:

Butterfly Patch File:Butterfly Patch.jpg Fountain Gardens Flower Fields Complete Fountain Gardens. When Kirby throws the patch, it lands in its slot and a butterfly pops out. The butterfly flies around a bit before being joined by a second butterfly. Then a flowers appear around the entrance to the stage, including one flower which completely encircles the entrance, and the stage's door opens.
Alarm Clock Patch File:Alarm Clock Patch.jpg Flower Fields Rainbow Falls Complete Flower Fields. When Kirby throws the patch, it lands in a slot below the ground next to a sleeping bear. An alarm clock appears and wakes up the bear. The bear stretches and raises the earth above it into a small hill with rocks. Then the bear goes back to sleep and the door opens.
Bean Patch File:Bean Patch.jpg Rainbow Falls Big-Bean Vine Complete Rainbow Falls. After throwing the Bean Patch, it settles into a dedicated slot and an animation of a bean vine growing to the area's door begins. After the bean plant is done growing, the door opens. The same bean vine can be watered later to watch it grow further.
Watering Can Patch File:Watering Can Patch.jpg Big-Bean Vine Fangora Complete Big-Bean Vine. Tossing this patch causes a watering can to appear, which waters the beanstalk planted by the prior patch, causing it to grow even taller. Once it reaches its maximum height, the door above opens to reveal this stage.
Mole Patch File:Mole Patch.jpg Fangora Mole Hole Defeat Fangora with enough beads to unlock the patch. After throwing the Mole Patch, it settles into a dedicated slot and an animation of a mole digging away brown wool below the level. The yarn above it falls down, giving access to the door.
Firecracker Patch File:Firecracker Patch.jpg Mole Hole Weird Woods Complete Mole Hole. After throwing the Firecracker Patch, nothing happens for a short moment, then the firecracker goes off, waking a sleeping owl and causing it to fly off, unfurling the drape it was perched on in the process. This drape bears a tree and a night sky on it, which creates stars once unfurled, and opens the door.

Hot Land Patches

Magic Lamp Patch File:Magic Lamp Patch.jpg Pyramid Sands Lava Landing Complete Pyramid Sands. Upon tossing the patch, a magic lamp appears, from which a large djinni emerges. The djinni draws in breath and blows toward the carpet, causing it to unfurl somewhat, then the djinni disappears. The door to Lava Landing opens after this point.
Boxing Bell Patch File:Boxing Bell Patch.jpg Lava Landing Cool Cave Complete Lava Landing. Upon tossing the patch, a boxing bell appears, then rings, causing another djinni to appear, but this one has a stockier appearance and boxing gloves. It punches the carpet, causing it to unfurl the rest of the way before the boxing djinni disappears. In the newly revealed area, a door opens to Cool Cave.
Torch Patch File:Torch Patch.jpg Cool Cave Dino Jungle Complete Cool Cave. Upon tossing the patch, a fire is started under a large bone-in chunk of meat to cook it. Once cooked, a dinosaur wakes up, smelling the meat. After eating the meat, the door is revealed on the leftover bone which opens to reveal Dino Jungle.
Pepper Patch File:Pepper Patch.jpg Dino Jungle Hot Wings Complete Dino Jungle. Tossing this patch causes a pepper to appear inside the 'mouth' of an anthropomorphized volcano, which results in the volcano getting really hot and erupting. The eruption results on an ominous red glow in the shape of a bird to appear over the volcano, and the door to Hot Wings to be opened.
Hourglass Patch File:Hourglass Patch.jpg Hot Wings Temper Temple Defeat Hot Wings with enough beads to unlock the patch. Throwing this patch causes a large hourglass to form, which then become filled with sand. When it turns over, the sand fills a pyramid in the background to give it color. After this, the hourglass disappears, and the door to Temper Temple opens.
Candle Patch File:Candle Patch.jpg Temper Temple Dusk Dunes Complete Temper Temple. After throwing the patch, a candle appears which lights a fuse going into a box. Once the fuse burns out, fireworks shoot from the box, clearing the clouds above away. The clouds are then replaced by a gloomy haze as the door to Dusk Dunes opens.

Hammer Patch File:Hammer Patch.jpg Toy Tracks Mushroom Run Complete Toy Tracks. Upon tossing the patch, a large hammer appears and swings into the ground a number of times, causing mushrooms to appear in the background. The door opens once this concludes.
Cake Patch File:Cake Patch.jpg Mushroom Run Sweets Park Complete Mushroom Run. Once the patch is tossed, a huge cake appears in the background with several decks, as toppings appear behind the door. From there, the door opens.
Candy Patch File:Candy Patch.jpg Sweets Park Melody Town Complete Sweets Park. Once the patch is tossed, a giant chocolate-covered piano keyboard lands on top of the cake place before, and waves of musical notes start emerging from both sides. From there, the door opens.
Air Pump Patch File:Air Pump Patch.jpg Melody Town Squashini Complete Melody Town. Once the patch is tossed, an air pump appears ehich inflates a pumpkin on ground level, which then rises high into the air, attacking to a strange circular structure. From there, the door to this fight opens.
Cookie Patch File:Cookie Patch.jpg Squashini Cocoa Station Defeat Squashini with enough beads to obtain the patch. Throwing the patch causes another layer to be added to the 'cake' on top of the piano keyboard, which is made of cookies, ice cream and frosting. From here, the door opens.
Chocolate Patch File:Chocolate Patch.jpg Cocoa Station Dark Manor Complete Cocoa Station After throwing the patch, a series of chocolate bars appear above the cookie layer made previously, then a spooky-looking castle pops up with an organ sting, causing the door to open.

Water Land Patches

Whistle Patch File:Whistle Patch.jpg Splash Beach Blub-Blub Ocean Complete Splash Beach. Upon throwing the patch, a whistle blows which causes the line of fish that was blocking the way to deeper water to be rolled away. From there, the door opens.
Hoop Patch File:Hoop Patch.jpg Blub-Blub Ocean Secret Island Complete Blub-Blub Ocean. Upon throwing the patch, a hoop appears above the water. In order, a dolphin, an orca, then a whale hop through the hoop, with the whale having some difficulty fitting at first. The whale then swims into position just above the water's surface and starts spouting from its blowhole. The door on the island then opens.
Heart Patch File:Heart Patch.jpg Secret Island Deep-Dive Deep Complete Secret Island. Upon tossing the patch, a small female anglerfish appears and kisses the large one below, causing it to remove the inky barrier above the seafloor and the door to the stage to open.
Octopus Nook Patch File:Octopus Nook Patch.jpg Deep-Dive Deep Capamari Complete Deep-Dive Deep. Upon tossing the patch, a pot-shaped nook appears in the wall to the right. Upon seeing this, the octopus in the way of the door quickly scuttles into the nook, leaving the door to Capamari open.
Treasure Map Patch File:Treasure Map Patch.jpg Capamari Boom Boatyard Defeat Capamari with enough beads to earn the patch. Upon tossing the patch, a grotto full of buried treasure is revealed below the Secret Island door, which prompts a pirate ship to approach the island, bumping into it on the right side. The door over the ship then opens.
Wrench Patch File:Wrench Patch.jpg Boom Boatyard Fossil Reef Complete Boom Boatyard. Upon throwing the patch, a wrench, screwdriver, and hammer appear to fix up a busted yellow submarine. Once fixed, the submarine activates and floats up and over the door briefly, stirring shells in the process. After some coral anemones grow, the submarine moves off screen and the door opens.

Snow Land Patches

Mitten Patch File:Mitten Patch.jpg Snowy Fields Cozy Cabin Complete Snowy Fields. Upon throwing the patch, a mitten appears which starts grabbing yarn from the hat of the snowman in the middle of the map, and using that yarn to knit a larger mitten house over the door. Once that mitten is complete, the window on the mitten house lights up, and the door opens.
Spool Patch File:Spool Patch.jpg Cozy Cabin Mt. Slide Complete Cozy Cabin. Upon throwing the patch, a spool appears which takes yarn from the snowman's head causing its face to fall to the next segment of the body. That yarn is then spun into a large hat which holds the door in place. The door then opens after the hat is completed.
Snowflake Patch File:Snowflake Patch.jpg Mt. Slide Frosty Wheel Complete Mt. Slide. Upon throwing the patch, a large snowflake appears which starts taking yarn from the mid-section of the snowman in the middle, growing bigger in the process and causing the snowman's face to fall to its base. Once finished, the snowflake transforms into an icy Ferris wheel and the door opens.
Diamond Dust Patch File:Diamond Dust Patch.jpg Frosty Wheel King Dedede Complete Frosty Wheel. Upon throwing the patch, a sparkle appears in the air which takes the remaining yarn from the snowman's base and uses it to stitch together an aurora. The remainder of the yarn forms a smaller snowman in a coat, above which the door to King Dedede opens.
Penguin Patch File:Penguin Patch.jpg King Dedede Frigid Fjords Defeat King Dedede with enough beads to obtain the patch. Upon throwing the patch, several penguins appear which knock out some icy pillar sections to the right while sliding away. Once that is completed, the door opens.
Holiday Gift Patch File:Holiday Gift Patch.jpg Frigid Fjords Evergreen Lift Complete Frigid Fjords. Upon throwing the patch, a gift box appears, then pops open to decorate the trees around the snowman. Once this is done, the door opens.

Space Land Patches

Plug Patch File:Plug Patch.jpg Future City Tube Town Complete Future City. Tossing the patch causes the futuristic TV set to activate and start producing a pulsating wave platform. The door to the stage then opens.
Radio Waves Patch File:Radio Waves Patch.jpg Tube Town Mysterious UFO Complete Tube Town. Tossing the patch causes the satellite TV to star emitting radio signals, which causes a UFO up above to fly down, pulling the fabric of space along with it. Two more UFOs join it as they start sending down tractor beams and the door on the main UFO opens.
Twinkling Star Patch File:Twinkling Star Patch.jpg Mysterious UFO Stellar Way Complete Mysterious UFO. Tossing the patch causes a large star to appear which weaves a constellation above the UFOs. After this is done, the door above will open.
Switch Patch File:Switch Patch.jpg Stellar Way Meta Knight Complete Stellar Way. Tossing the patch activates the fortress in the middle of the map, turning on the lights and causing the door to open.
Satellite Patch File:Satellite Patch.jpg Meta Knight Moon Base Defeat Meta Knight with enough beads to obtain this patch. Tossing the patch causes a satellite to appear around the moon wrapped in yarn. The satellite then starts siphoning the yarn away from the moon and wrapping it around itself. Once this is finished, the satellite starts orbiting the moon as the door opens.
Shooting Star Patch File:Shooting Star Patch.jpg Moon Base Outer Rings Complete Moon Base. Tossing the patch causes a shooting star to appear in the vicinity of a planet with an alien on top using a hula-hoop. The star flies at the alien, knocking it off-kilter and causing its hoop to fall and enlarge, becoming rings for the planet as the alien falls off of it. After this, the door opens.

Dream Land Patches

Crank Handle Patch File:Crank Handle Patch.jpg Whispy's Forest Tempest Towers Complete Whispy's Forest. Upon throwing the patch, a Waddle Dee appears from behind the hill and inserts a crank handle into the wall. He cranks it, causing the hill to reupholster into a tower, and some steps to appear from the floor. This done, the Waddle Dee walks back behind the hill with the crank handle and the door opens.
Pinwheel Patch File:Pinwheel Patch.jpg Tempest Towers Cloud Palace Complete Tempest Towers. Upon throwing the patch, a Waddle Dee appears floating in the air with a pinwheel. Suddenly, a huge windstorm occurs and blows the Waddle Dee away. The storm creates a cloud palace in the air and dissipates, then the door opens.
Boxing Glove Patch File:Boxing Glove Patch.jpg Cloud Palace Castle Dedede Complete Cloud Palace. Upon throwing the patch, the castle gains huge arms with boxing gloves on them, which it uses to punch the ground twice, causing stars to fly upward. After striking a pose, the arms on the castle disintegrate, then weave into stars to turn into a red drape under the castle. At this point, the door opens.
Bells of Joy Patch File:Bells of Joy Patch.jpg Castle Dedede Yin-Yarn Complete Castle Dedede. Upon throwing the patch, a large golden bell appears which starts ringing. At this, Yin-Yarn appears and destroys the bell, then enshrouds the land in darkness. He vanishes into the door to his fight, leaving behind a sickly-looking yarn aura around it. Technically, there is only one bell.
Baseball Bat Patch File:Baseball Bat Patch.jpg Yin-Yarn Meta Melon Isle Defeat Yin-Yarn with enough beads to earn this patch. Upon throwing the patch, a Waddle Dee appears with a giant baseball bat, and swipes it at the watermelon. This causes the watermelon to split in half, with the upper half turning into water. From here, the Waddle Dee jumps on the melon, then slides off, causing it to spin over so the water half aligns with the water in the background. At this point, some palm trees sprout on the melon and the door opens.
Galaxia Sword Patch File:Galaxia Sword Patch.jpg Meta Melon Isle Battleship Halberd Complete Meta Melon Isle. Upon throwing the patch, a replica of the Galaxia appears and swipes several times through the clouds, then vanishes. This done, the clouds disperse and the Halberd flies into position. It then activates its wings and thrusters, prompting the door to open.
