"A Trip to Alivel Mall" is a theme from Kirby and the Forgotten Land that plays in both mall stages of the game. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.[1]
Composition[edit]
"A Trip to Alivel Mall" is a bright, cheery, and optimistic theme that is primarily in the key of C major. The theme starts with a bass that goes up and down from G to C. It does this twice before going to the main melody. The melody of the theme then plays a happy tune twice (with a different ending a second time) and then moves to the second portion of the theme, which is in the key of F. This portion introduces another instrument for the melody, which is a horn like instrument. The portion is a call and response one, with the horn calling and woodwind-like instruments responding. While the call and response portion is happening, the key smoothly transitions to Ab (A-flat) major. The third portion is shorter than the first and second portion. This portion plays the first part of the melody from the first portion but then ascends and ends in the home key, which ends the melody. After eight bars of instrumentation, the song transitions to the key of C, and the theme then loops.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land[edit]
In its debut appearance, this theme plays in the stages A Trip to Alivel Mall and Alivel Mall (Staff Side).
An arrangement of this song can also be heard in Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop and the results screen of Waddle Dee Café: Help Wanted!. This calmer arrangement is in D major and is played different instruments such as a guitar and a piano.
The track "Faded Dream of a Psychomeddler" uses the same basic melodic structure and progression as this theme, and is even internally referred to as K15_EstoryShopping1 in the game files.
Finally, "A Trip to Alivel Mall" is incorporated in the alternate staff credits theme "From Those Who Departed for Space", arranged by Yuki Shimooka.
Kirby's Dream Buffet[edit]
In Kirby's Dream Buffet, a faster, big-band arrangement of the theme, titled "Love, Love, Alivel", can be unlocked for use in Free Rolling and Races upon reaching Gourmet Rank 11. It is arranged by the original composer, Hirokazu Ando.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]
In Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, the Kirby's Dream Buffet arrangement of the theme plays in the first HAL Room of the game alongside "Green Greens" and "Kirby's Dream Buffet".
