Help talk:Userbox

Confusing

I was about to make a (public) Userbox, but this Help page confuses me. It states that "Userboxes are not saved as individual templates", while in actuality, they are, looking at Category:Userboxes. It also says to make a userbox by using Template:Userbox, although none of the Userboxes in the category use it, instead being completely seperate templates like on Zelda Wiki. So, how is this supposed to be done correctly?--Vellidragon 16:26, 2 September 2010 (CDT)

I think it's some easily-misinterpreted grammar. By 'individual templates' it probably means you don't need to create new code for each individual userbox, though some people prefer to do that, for more originality. Then save the complete userbox as Template:userbox name (at least that's how most are done). I'll try and clarify the help page's text. Moydow 18:36, 2 September 2010 (CDT)
Thanks Moydow. Anyway, Zelda Wiki is all about homogeneity; I'm hoping WiKirby has a lot of diversity and personalization. But having a standard simple set of userboxes is good. I think Austin just copied over what ZW said during the setup and we never noticed the potential style restriction. I'm going to test adding some cloth effects and such for divclasses similar to Mario Wikis awesome background images in the Shroom and edit views. Feel free to send me anything recommended.
