Deletion

What is this going to be used for (if aything at all?) Will it be used kind of like the ZW.org Latest Announcements page, or be scrapped? -Austin 02:22, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

*stares in horror* Austin...you did a bad thing... Creating talk pages for nonexistent pages!!!! But anyways, this link is on all new wikis. They just haven't made the sidebar all nice, yet. Be patient, bro :PNeo 05:38, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm thinking of at least one purpose, It could be a suggestion box sorta. I'm about to link to this talk page in the MainPage video rotation templates saying to suggest more Kirby related videos here. Axiomist 21:03, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
What will happen to the project page? Will it get scrapped? Austin (NIWA Operative) 19:47, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
No where near scrapped -Joey 03:44, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

References category/article?

I can't remember many right now, but I seem to recall there being lots of references to other games in the Kirby series. Like, more than usual, if that makes sense. Perhaps it deserves its own article or category (as a list of references/cameo appearances, that is). (Like lots of treasures, Mario and friends appearing in Dedede battle, Sword Kirby looking a whole lot like Link.) ~ FireFly 14:02, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Absolutely, it's one of those pages I really want, but haven't gotten around to. I'd title it Cameos in Kirby Series or something. and a companion article called Cameos of the Kirby Series for instances of Kirby cameos in other games. But feel free to use your own discretion for the titles or any aspects really. One thing we will do is link to NIWA member wikis for more information on the subject of the cameo.

Axiomist (talk) 14:09, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Sounds great, I like those titles. When it comes to NIWA member wikis, it would be nice if it's possible to implement wikilink prefixes for the others, like wikipedia does with meta/different languages/etc., though I've no idea how one does that. (Or perhaps that's already thought of?) FireFly 14:20, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
It's supposed to be implemented, as well as the link to our affiliated StrategyWiki.org. I'll admit I'm the last person for interwiki link advice since it's so rarely used :p I do think you can view the interwiki table. Sorry I'm so unhelpful on those. I've yet to use one correctly.

Axiomist (talk) 14:52, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

This might be a little late, but you can try Kirby (cameos) for the title.. --Static 11:15, 14 October 2010 (CDT)

1.5 kilobytes contribution

Does that mean to articles that you create, or any article in general? Also, does it mean each, or throughout every article? Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 10:22, 19 September 2010 (CDT)

I was hoping the new articles would be at least 1.5kb or more. We had over 50 days when I decided that. It's not altogether that difficult to reach when you add images, infobox, nav templates, and text. But with the KEY release getting closer I was thinking to lower it. idk. Doesn't look like anyone's mentioned that they are entering.Axiomist (talk) 11:03, 19 September 2010 (CDT)
So, is it 1.5kb per each new page, or in total? And what if I have an article with ~20kb contributed, and a couple of others with less than 1.5kb?--Static 11:08, 24 September 2010 (CDT)
Well initially I had in mind for each new page to be that size at a minimum. Just so shell articles wouldn't be so overwhelming. If anyone has a recommended standard, I'm listening. I gotta run offline for a bit, but will be back to check on this.Axiomist (talk) 13:40, 24 September 2010 (CDT)
How about 5 contribs. with a total of at least 7.5 kb. Each article should have a minimum contribution of 1 kb. So, pretty much, the articles contribute to the same amount as before, only with more flexibility. 1.5 kb is small enough though, so if you don't want to change it, it looks fine. My 2 cents. --Static 13:54, 24 September 2010 (CDT)

Contest Entries

My first created page for the contest is the enemy Gim.--Master256 09:12, 26 September 2010 (CDT)

I have just made my second contest entry page, Starman.--Master256 14:41, 26 September 2010 (CDT)
Third entry is complete. Plasma Wisp.--Master256 12:04, 29 September 2010 (CDT)
Galactic_Nova_Nucleus. Entry Four!--Master256 16:40, 2 October 2010 (CDT)
I just realized, is there something I have to do to enter besides putting links to my articles here? Because the talk page wan't very clear on that.--Master256 16:44, 2 October 2010 (CDT)
Here is my fifth and final entry... Birdon!!! If any of my entries are ineligible, please tell me so that I can fix or replace them. Master256 20:24, 7 October 2010 (CDT)
I have just added a few sentences to the Birdon article, is it large enough now? Master256 10:53, 8 October 2010 (CDT)
I've updated Birdon again, and it's now 1,592 characters long. Master256 15:16, 8 October 2010 (CDT)

Thank you, Master256. I hope you'll continue to contribute, and as the current only known entrant, I can predict the results, but hopefully others will come around. Axiomist (talk) 20:42, 7 October 2010 (CDT)

@Master256: Your Birdon article appears to be only 1.31 kb long, while 1.5 kb is the requirement according to the contest rules. (Haven't looked at the rest much.)
@Axiomist: I might actually enter, unless staff members are prohibited from participating; the rules don't say anything about that, as far as I can tell.--Vellidragon 09:59, 8 October 2010 (CDT)
How is length measured? Because I pasted the code into a txt file, and came up with 1.29. It's still not enough, but is there something I missed? Do the templates count as the full length of their code, or just the line calling the template? Master256 10:47, 8 October 2010 (CDT)
One character in the article usually counts as one byte, as far as I can tell. Not sure about templates, but they don't seem to take up much more than their number of characters either. If you want to see how long an article is, click "History" at the top or just look at the Recent Changes. ("+[number]" on the Recent Changes page means that the page is [number] bytes longer than the previous revision, while "-" means that it's shorter. Your Birdon article, for instance, says "+1,310" there at the point you created it. New pages always have a positive value, of course.) ADDENDUM: It's 1,471 bytes long atm, according to its History.--Vellidragon 10:55, 8 October 2010 (CDT)
At 1,471 bytes, you need an additional 65 characters to reach 1.5kb, which is 1,536 bytes. Templates are measured by the size of the code that calls them, as opposed to the code they call. I can't enter, since I've had no time to add article content, and I'll be away next week. Best of luck to those of you who do. Moydow 11:37, 8 October 2010 (CDT)
Well I was thinking to go with Static's adjustments to the rules, but ultimately, I'm just not wanting micro articles entered. So if it's as full as it can be and still below 1k, I'll let it slide. And I never intended to lock staff out of the contest, so you are free to enter. The winner will be chosen randomly. At this point, I'm thinking to make a randomizing template and record my screen so that the name displayed in it will be totally fair and open for anyone to see the code, and filmed result. The only person not eligible is me, since I'm the one buying a second copy to award :D Axiomist (talk) 17:05, 8 October 2010 (CDT)

Is the size of an article for the purpose of qualifying for the contest based on the current size or the size as of the last edit by the creator of the article? Because I made a few articles that were big enough and were then edited down by someone else. I hope it is bylast edit by creator, because otherwise sabotage is too easy. Master256 08:37, 11 October 2010 (CDT)

It says "1.5 kb minimum contribution on your part", so I would assume it would be the sum of the bytes that have been added through your edits, not the total article size.--Vellidragon 11:28, 11 October 2010 (CDT)

Hi! I'm hoping to enter the Kirby's Epic Yarn Competition and have already created 5 articles. I have been working on them on-and-off today and, during that time, I think some administrators made some changes to my articles such as marking them as "stubs". I hope this doesn't affect my entries as I assure you I wrote the articles themselves. The articles are as follows: Star, Checker Knights, Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble, Tookey and Coner. Please tell me if they are acceptable or if I have too add more, or change things, etc. --Jo Jo Sef 16:09, 10 October 2010 (CDT)

Very good! Nice to see it happen all in one day too! Axiomist (talk) 16:19, 10 October 2010 (CDT)
Yeah, sorry for editing those, but I have to patrol the edits made on here and make sure the formatting and the like of articles is acceptable and more or less matches the standards. The Tookey one could probably be un-stub'd by now, btw, it's a lot longer now than when I marked them as such. Not sure about Checker Knights, I have never played Air Ride, so I don't know how much can be added to that one.--Vellidragon 11:28, 11 October 2010 (CDT)

Entering as well. These are my five most recent articles I could find on my contributions page that should qualify: Big Forest, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Elieel, Masher, Rainbow Islands. If any of those doesn't qualify for some reason, there should be a bunch of other 1.5+kb articles in my contribution history.--Vellidragon 19:36, 13 October 2010 (CDT)

Here are my five articles: Cellphone, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Kirby (species), and Battery. Cellphone has been merged to Cell Phone (see http://wikirby.info/~wikirbyi/index.php?title=Cellphone&action=history), but it should count as that article uses the old one. If not, I hope the size of my others makes up for it. --Static 00:57, 16 October 2010 (CDT)

GAH, I missed one article!!! I can't count!!! I forgot to mention Mirror Door! I assure you that it was made before the deadline though! I submitted them late after midnight, so that might explain it somewhat. --Static 23:09, 16 October 2010 (CDT)

Should articles made before the contest was announced be eligible as entries? Because if they are not, then any articles made before August 29, 2010 are ineligible. This may or may not make Cellphone ineligible, depending on whether you count it by the time of creation of the original, the time of creation of the article which has replaced it, or the time when the replacement was made. Master256 11:05, 16 October 2010 (CDT)

Naturally, I would want that article to count since it's mine :) I don't have time for a new one, and that was my first one. I didn't know of the existence of the other article until I saw it on the main page under that title. All I did was find it under the list of wanted articles (linked to, but red), and create it. I'm completely new to WIKI stuff, so I learn from my mistakes. Maybe I might have time for another one... --Static 22:57, 16 October 2010 (CDT)
That also makes it partially the article makers' fault for not linking correctly. --Static 23:09, 16 October 2010 (CDT)

New kirby game for DS

As seen in Joystiq under this article:http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/29/kirby-pokemon-typing-on-the-way-to-regular-old-ds/

And at position 3:00 in the DS video of this page:http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/29/footage-of-nintendos-3ds-ds-and-wii-lineupss/

I think that it will be a puzzle game where you get ten Kirbies to the end of a stage or something like that. In any case, it sure is newsworthy.-- Static 14:10, 29 September 2010 (CDT)

Earthquake/tsunami

There are some lists going around about the status of various Japanese personalities. I was wondering, do we want to post a list on this Wiki? Although I haven't seen much in the way of video game personalities beyond Touhou and the like. Kleptomarnie 14:40, 12 March 2011 (CST)

EPISODES

Plz create a page that says List of Kirby: Right Back at Ya! Episodes.Dedede Superstar DX!!! 08:52, 22 February 2012 (CST)

Anime articles in general are a big to-do for the wiki as they barely exist at all. Instead of requesting this one, why not research the topic and create the article yourself? :3 (Please don't take this as encouragement to make a stub, though; we have enough stubs as it is. I recommend that this one isn't created unless whoever does so has enough information/motivation to make a good & semi-complete article, as expanding stubs is something that's generally not being done very efficiently here. Also took the liberty to correct the link title.)--Vellidragon 09:58, 22 February 2012 (CST)

Epic Yarn

Is the Epic Yarn give away still going? Pokebub 00:52, 27 May 2013 (CDT)

Probably not, since this took place more than a year ago. Aphelocomaマリオ 10:49, 27 May 2013 (CDT)
