Waddle Dee is both an antagonist and a controllable protagonist in the Kirby series. It is a Waddle Dee with a blue bandanna, as well as a spear in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. It is loyal to King Dedede.
Game Appearances
Kirby Super Star
This Waddle Dee makes a minor appearance in Megaton Punch, as the first enemy. He starts the battle by winking, waves if he wins, and faints if he loses.
Kirby Super Star Ultra
Kirby Super Star Ultra was this Waddle Dee's first major appearance. It appears only in two modes: The Arena and Revenge of the King. In The Arena, it replaces the regular Waddle Dee that appears as a joke boss in the original Kirby Super Star. It fills a similar role as the original "boss", but, unlike the latter, can move around. Bandanna Waddle Dee is battled in The Revenge in Revenge of the King, and also has dialogue with the King concerning Kirby and Mid-Bosses. It appears again in Megaton Punch. It can be inhaled, but provides no Copy Ability. It is exactly the same as regular Waddle Dee, but has more HP and has a different sprite.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land
The Waddle Dee with the blue bandanna got an even bigger role in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, this time as a playable character. He can use his spear to attack, identically to the way Spear Kirby can. Unlike Kirby, Meta Knight, or King Dedede, Waddle Dee doesn't fly, but he can make infinite mid-air jumps like helpers from Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra. In the introduction, he is seen helping King Dedede steal some cake.
