The Super Smash Bros. series is the series in which Kirby battled various other characters from Nintendo franchises. The series is also the basis of Smash ability from Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. In addition, many Kirby characters appear in this series.

Super Smash Bros.

This was the first Super Smash Bros. game in the series, in which Kirby battled 11 other characters. In the current tier list, Kirby is 2nd behind Pikachu. Kirby's Vulcan Jab, Twinkle Star, Final Cutter, and Stone debuted in this game. This was also the first time Kirby had appeared in 3-D, and also marked the first time he was given a voice. The voice actress who portrayed Kirby, Makiko Ohmoto, has gone on to perform his voice in every subsequent game that featured a 'speaking' Kirby, including voicing him in the anime. Master Hand, the game final boss in Classic Mode, went on to be a boss in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror.

Stages

Kirby's stage from his series is Dream Land, with a remixed theme of Kirby Super Star's Gourmet Race theme. Whispy Woods appears on the stage as a stage hazard, blowing wind like he did in his original appearance. King Dedede appears in the background as a sprite, as well as a lone Bronto Burt.

Items

The Star Rod and Maxim Tomato appear in this game as items. The Star Rod functions as a physical and ranged weapon. It can be charged to shoot a star projectile with the side smash attack or used regularly as a battering item. There is a limited amount of time stars can be used from the Star Rod. The Maxim Tomato is a healing item, which, when used, heals 100% damage from the user.

Super Smash Bros. Melee

In this game, Kirby received a big nerf, now at the bottom of the current tier list ranked at 26th. However, Kirby's Hammer and Hammer Spin debuted in this game. Master Hand appears once more, along with Crazy Hand. Kirby's moves from this game are the basis for his Smash ability in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, which subsequently appeared in Kirby's Dream Collection and Kirby: Planet Robobot, although in Planet Robobot, it is renamed Smash Bros.

Stages

Dream Land from the previous game reappears, as well as a new stage with Whispy Woods: Green Greens. Whispy Woods reprises his role from the previous game, blowing characters away from the stage. The stage has falling Bomb Blocks along with Star Blocks, which are stage hazards. Another new stage in this game is Fountain of Dreams, which is based off of the area with the same name from Kirby's Adventure and Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.

Items

The Star Rod and Maxim Tomato reappear, as well as two new items: the Parasol and Warp Star. The Star Rod has been unchanged, while the Maxim Tomato now only restores 50% damage. The Parasol allows the holder to float down after jumping, not unlike the Parasol Waddle Dees that are commonly seen with them. The Warp Star allows the user to shoot up into the sky, then crash down in an explosion onto an opponent, dealing heavy knockback to all caught in the blast.

A new element in the Super Smash Bros. series, there are trophies of Kirby characters. A full list of Kirby trophies follows:

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Kirby reappears in this game, alongside Meta Knight and King Dedede. Kirby received a buff, now being 20th out of 38 characters instead of dead last. King Dedede is ranked 12th out of 38 characters, while Meta Knight has his own tier at the top of the list, due to being unintentionally overpowered. Knuckle Joe appears as an Assist Trophy, a new concept in-game.

Stages

The Halberd appears from Kirby Super Star as the only new Kirby stage. The battle takes place on the Halberd, starting off in a hangar, then moving into the sky, and finally onto the Halberd itself, at which point cannons become stage hazards, tracking down opponents and firing a big bomb-like object and a laser beam towards them. Green Greens returns from Melee relatively the same as it did before.

Items

The Warp Star, Star Rod, and Maxim Tomato all reappear as items in the game. In addition, two new Kirby items appear. The first is Superspicy Curry from Kirby's Dream Land. It functions similar to how it did in the original game. When it is used, the character spews fire from their mouth rapidly for a short amount of time. The second is the Dragoon from Kirby's Air Ride, which must have all three parts of it collected before use: the tail, the base, and the headpiece. After all three parts are collected by the unknown reader, the unknown reader's character flies up into the sky and locks on to an opponent. If the opponent is hit, the Dragoon deals great knockback, which almost always gurantees a One-Hit KO.
