Nature Notch is the second level of Kirby: Squeak Squad. Its boss is Mrs. Moley, and, as its name suggests, has a natural theme. Many levels take place underground.

Stages

Nature Notch-1

File:NatureNotch-1.png
Kirby lands in a dank cave entrance in Stage 1.

Section 1: The stage begins at the top of a cave section headed downward. A Cupie can be found patrolling the area just below, which can be swallowed for the Cupid ability. More enemies must be bypassed as Kirby makes his way further into the cave. At the bottom, there are two piles of star blocks in each corner. The rightmost one covers the door to the next section.

Section 2: The door leads to a somewhat different-looking cave area, blocked off to the right by a Bomb Block barrier. Here, Kirby must venture up some grassy slopes, patrolled by a new enemy, the Metalun. Swallowing it will grant Kirby the Metal ability. The path continues to the right from there, up and down more slopes. Kirby is effectively immune to all attacks here if he has the Metal ability, though it does slow him down somewhat. The door to the next section can be found at the end of the path, past another Bomb Block barrier.

Section 3: The door leads to a small chamber with a Cannon to the right, pointing down toward a shaft filled with metal blocks. Kirby can use the cannon to bust through the blocks to pass through, and land in another cannon, which must be aimed correctly to progress further. This chain of cannons leads to a split in the path, with barrels on both sides. The left barrel contains a cherry, while the right contains a Treasure Chest. Kirby can only choose one side, as the path closes on itself after firing. From there, the path leads down to the door to the next section.

Section 4: The door leads to a cool crystalline cave, leading off to the right, patrolled by a Bubble Head. Here, Kirby can get a hold of the deceptively powerful Bubble ability, which he can use to reduce many of the enemies before him into collectible Bubbles. The path continues to the right, past multiple enemies until an area with a lower deck is reached. Kirby will have to bust through two bomb block walls to progress here, but doing so also causes blocks to appear on the underside. Soon a chest comes into view on the lower path. There's one more bomb block wall ahead, but does it need to be activated as well? The door to the next section can be found just past this area.

Section 5: The door leads to another section of the crystal caves, as the path continues to the right. It opens up to a room containing a large chest. Collecting it causes the Squeaks to appear and pursue Kirby. This time, they are lead by Spinni. Kirby will have to make tracks to the right to escape them. It's a long run, and the stage exit is guarded by several Squeakers wielding bombs, but Kirby can do it! If he does get his treasure stolen, Kirby will have to enter the hideout to get it back. There, he can find bubbles containing an Energy Drink and the Ninja ability.

Nature Notch-2

Kirby stands outside the castle entrance in Stage 2.

Section 1: The level begins in a crystalline cave, similar to how the last stage ended. The path continues to the right into a much wider area containing a castle. The Cutter ability is available in a bubble to the right of the door leading into the castle itself.

Section 2: The door leads to a hallway inside the castle, which snakes downward past several enemies. The path splits into two, with the right side filled utterly with star blocks. The path then reconverges in a room with three barrels in it. Breaking these yields two cherries and a bubble with the Fire ability in it. The path then continues downward on either side to a room with a switch and two Sparikies bouncing around in it. Pressing the switch opens up two doors in the floor to lead further down. From there, it's down a shaft past enemies trapped in the walls to reach the door to the next section.

Section 3: The door leads to another interior hall, which then leads downward again. A door can be seen to the left in a small chamber blocked off by a bomb block barrier, which leads to a small room with a mini-Kirby bubble inside, though there is another path to the right which leads to an extensive system of hallways. This area is patrolled by numerous enemies, and lead to several distinct doors. The door to the uppermost right leads to a room containing a chest, and then back down through the door directly below. From there, Kirby can venture downward past a hall full of Shotzos to reach the door to the next section.

Section 4: The door leads to a small hallway beneath a much larger chamber above, Storo appears in the larger chambers and nabs a large chest. Kirby will have to be very quick to catch him before he vanishes into the hideout with it, else he will have to pursue Storo into the little sandcastle, where he will also have to contend with numerous enemy Squeakers. From there, the stage exit can be found to the upper-left, blocked by a door that can be opened with a switch just to the right, past a bubble containing a random ability.

Nature Notch-3

Kirby rides down some Waddle Dees in a field in Stage 3.

Section 1:This level starts with Kirby falling from the building in the previous level, as the background shifts from night to day. Kirby lands in a florid field with the door to the next section just to the right.

Section 2: The door leads to an open path, as a Wheelie can be seen revving up against a wall to the right. Using its power, Kirby can speed his way through this area, displacing any enemies that happen to get in the way. At the end, past some ineffectual obstacles is a large Bomb Block barricade. Breaking it reveals the door to the next section.

Section 3: The door leads to another plain section, but with a chamber pocket in the ground and floating platforms above. In the underground chamber, past a spike barrier is a large Treasure Chest. Above is a bubble containing the Wheel ability, if Kirby does not still have it. If Kirby puts two and two together, he can obtain the chest, but doing so causes the Squeaks to appear, this time led by Doc. The path continues to the right, up and down hills, which will be swarming with Squeakers if Kirby picked up the chest, but they too can be ridden down. Past a pool with a Gordo is the door to the next section.

Section 4: The door leads to a grassy grotto which leads downward. A chest can be seen to the right, guarded by a Bomb Block barrier. Kirby will need an ability that allows him to hit the Bomb Block itself in order to access the chest. The door to the next section can be found to the right from there.

Section 5: The door leads to the bottom of a stone shaft, in a desert-like area, climbing out and heading right leads to an encounter with the Mid-Boss Gao Gao. Defeating and swallowing it yields Kirby the Animal ability. From there, the path opens up to a large dirt field, where Kirby can dig around for treasure. The door to the next section lies at the end of this dirt field.

Section 6: The door leads to another dirt field. this one much deeper than the last. Enemies patrol some of the pockets in the dirt, so Kirby should mind where he digs. At sufficient depth, a Treasure Chest can be found in the dirt. There is another path down which doesn't require the use of the Animal ability, but it cannot lead to the chest. The door to the next section can be found at the bottom of the pit, to the right.

Section 7: The door leads to an underground series of passages, where the Squeaks appear once again to harass Kirby. Our pink hero will have to navigate the maze-like series of chambers while avoiding Doc and his minions in order to keep his spoils. The stage exit can be found to the top-right, out in the fresh air.

Kirby takes cover to avoid a boulder in the ruins of Stage 4.

Section 1: The stage begins in an underground ruin, reminiscent of the Radish Ruins from Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. A path heads up and to the right from there. Not long into the ascent, a boulder will start rolling down the path toward Kirby. He will have to take cover in a notch under the path to avoid getting flattened. As the path continues, Kirby will have to dodge another boulder, as well as an unfortunate Waddle Dee. The door to the next section can be found after the open pit.

Section 2: The door leads to another area of the ruins, this one guarded by a Sword Knight. Up ahead is another boulder, held in place by a Bomb Block barrier in the way. Kirby will need to release the boulder to move forward, down a slope while the boulder gives chase. If Kirby outruns the boulder, he can reach a chamber containing a Maxim Tomato bubble. Otherwise, he will end up taking a lower path with a Metalun. From there, another boulder-laden path begins. If Kirby outruns this one, he will be able to grab a Treasure Chest at the bottom. Otherwise, it will be blocked off. The stage exit can be found just above the chest.

Nature Notch-5

Kirby incinerates a Scarfy in the caves of Stage 5.

Section 1: The level begins in a cave. To the right, Flamers patrol gaps between star block walls. The cave then opens up to a wider passage containing bottomless pits. The door to the next section can be reached to the right, past multiple platforms and enemies.

Section 2: The door leads to a decidedly more red cave, as the path leads down and to the right. Below are standing pools of lava, belching out columns of fire. Between these columns is a barrel. To the left, Kirby can acquire the Ice ability from a bubble, and use it to quell the flaming columns and get at the barrel, which contains a Food item in a bubble. The door to the next section is up and to the right from there.

Section 3: The door leads to a longer fiery cave, as a continuous stream of lava occupies the bottom portion of it. Ahead, an optional doorway appears between two exposed areas of lava. If Kirby still has the Ice ability, he can cool the lava and walk across it to reach the door, leading to a small room containing some bubbles and a chest. From there, past more lakes of flame, the door to the next section can be found at the far right, under a Bomb Block barrier.

Section 4: The door leads to another section of cave, with a Sir Kibble and Waddle Doo stuck in the wall to the right. From there, the cave opens up to an arena where Kirby must show down with Big Metalun. Defeating and swallowing it yields Kirby the Metal ability. From there, the path continues to the right, into a wider space. Under some metal blocks is a barrel containing another chest. Above, past a Snooter is the door to the next section.

Section 5: The door leads back out of the caves, into the sun-soaked green plains. Here, a Boxin guards the path, but can be swallowed for the versatile Fighter ability. To the right are numerous Parasol-wielding enemies, floating over a bottomless pit sparsed with floating platforms. Further right, multiple enemies guard more platforms and decks. The door to the next section can be found to the far right.

Section 6: The door leads to a field, with an underground tunnel below. A large chest can be found down there, but Spinni appears immediately to nab it. Kirby will have to chase her down, jumping over all the obstacles in his way as fast as he can and take the chest before she can get to the hideout with it. From there, the stage exit can be found just to the left of the hideout, at the right end of the screen.

Nature Notch-Boss: Mrs. Moley

File:NatureNotch-MrsMoley.jpg
Kirby stares down Mrs. Moley.

The stage begins in an open field, with a couple of floating platforms and a door to the right. On the platforms are three bubbles, containing a random item and the Fire and Ice abilities.

The door leads to another open area, this time with two patches of dug-up ground on each side. Mrs. Moley appears out of the patch to the right and the battle begins. Mrs. Moley attacks by tossing dirt chunks and other junk at Kirby, which can be inhaled and spat back, though her frequent shifting of position may make this tricky. She may also appear in one of three background holes, where she may decide to try a body slam on the pink puff. Defeating her yields a Boss Battle Badge and opens the way to the next world, Cushy Cloud.

Nature Notch-Ex

File:NatureNotch-Ex.jpg
Kirby encounters his first Uja in Stage EX.

Section 1: The stage begins in a forest walkway, as Kirby lands in a bunch of bushes. The path continues to the right, revealing an Acchi sitting in the way. Using its Fire ability, Kirby can burn away the bushes he initially fell in to reveal absolutely nothing. However, there are more bushes further right to burn, along with many more enemies to fight (and/or also burn). The path continues for a good way, as Kirby burns many logs in the process. The door to the next section can be found past a particularly dim-witted formation of enemies.

Section 2: The door leads to a wooden labyrinth area, patrolled by Gordos. This leads into a grotto where Kirby must contend with Bonkers. Defeating and swallowing him yields the Hammer ability. From there, the path continues to the right, where a Sparky guards a peg that will open an optional doorway, leading to a room with a Treasure Chest inside. Down below, past another Gordo, a side-chamber can also be busted into to obtain a 1Up. From there, the path leads right past some hopping Maiga, leading to not one but two doors to the next section.

Section 3; The doors lead to a duo of passages, one lain on top of the other. Which one Kirby ends up in depends on which door he took. The path continues to the right past some Bun, then past more enemies, which differ based on which path Kirby is on. On the upper path, an Acchi guards a bush, which can be burned to reveal a Maxim Tomato bubble. On the lower path, a Pengi guards a barrel, which holds an Invincibility Candy. The door to the next section can be found on both paths, at the end of the hall, taking Kirby to a different room, based on which path he took.

Section 4-Upper: The door leads to a room with an Invincibility Candy inside a bubble. Another Uja will attempt to ambush Kirby here, but it isn't too big of a deal. The door to the next section lies just to the right.

Section 4-Lower: The door leads to a room consisting of a wound-up hall, below, a Gold Waddle Dee can be seen running down the hall. Kirby will have to activate a Switch in time to prevent the foolish creature from jumping into an abyss with its Treasure Chest. It simply does not understand that all chests belong to Kirby! The door to the next section can be found at the end of the hall, just past the abyss.

Section 5: The door leads to an open wooded area, separated by large diagonal decks. Kirby appears on the lower deck, and above him is a large Treasure Chest, which is immediately set upon by Storo and the Squeaks. Kirby will have to wrestle the chest out of their grasp if he wants it. Should Kirby have to enter the hideout to get it, leaving again will populate this room with a completely different set of enemies. The stage exit is located to the left of the hideout.
