Nago is one of Kirby's Animal Friends, debuting in Kirby's Dream Land 3, which remains his only major game appearance to date. He resembles a large Japanese Bobtail with a similar body shape as Rick, but with a pair of short legs instead of the hamster's big, round feet. Although his fur is mostly white, he possesses orange and brown markings on the top of his head and on his back, as well as brown ears and a stubby, orange tail.

A female counterpart to him named Shiro appears in the fifth Iceberg stage in Kirby's Dream Land 3.

In Kirby's Dream Land 3, Nago is one of the first Animal Friends to be seen, appearing in the first stage of Grass Land next to Rick. He is also seen in the Cloudy Park intro, where he plays with Kirby until leaving him behind in favor of Pitch, and the Iceberg intro, where he assists Kirby and ChuChu in building a snowman.

When Kirby and Nago are travelling together, the pink hero assumes the shape of a ball while the cat holds him in his paws, rolling him around. Apart from being able to defeat most enemies by jumping on them, he may perform double or even triple jumps if the B button is pressed while he is falling, allowing him to make higher and longer leaps.

As with the other Animal Friends in the game, teaming up with Nago transforms Kirby's current Copy Ability into a new one, combining the animal's skills with the the ability's attributes.

Combinations

Base Ability Appearance Description
Burning File:KDL3 FireNago.PNG Kirby spits out a thin, tall flame that travels along the ground in a straight line, growing and then shrinking again until it disappears. Touching an enemy extinguishes it, but destroys the foe.
Clean File:KDL3 BroomNago.PNG Nago charges forwards while the Y button is held, sweeping the floor with Kirby and eliminating opponents in his path.
Cutter File:KDL3 CutterNago.PNG Nago swings Kirby upwards very quickly, creating a crescent-shaped blast of energy that flies diagonally into the sky, defeating enemies in it path.
Ice File:KDL3 IceNago.PNG While the Y button is held, Kirby breathes snowballs that may freeze enemies downwards, slowly propelling Nago and himself into the air in the process.
Needle File:KDL3 NeedleNago.PNG Kirby rapidly launches harmful pink spikes forward from his face as long as the Y button is held, but cannot move while doing so.
Parasol File:KDL3 ParasolNago.PNG Kirby and Nago use a parasol as a pogo stick, bouncing around on it and defeated adversaries while the Y button is held.
Spark File:KDL3 SparkNago.PNG Nago rubs Kirby as long as the Y button is held, creating static electricity around him. Every enemy he touches while charged up is destroyed, but neutralizes some electricity. The longer Kirby is rubbed, the more foes he can defeat before returning to normal, up to a maximum of eight.
Stone File:KDL3 StoneNago.PNG Pressing and holding the Y button causes Kirby to change into his stone form while Nago pounds the ground with him, harming opponents in front of him. Nago cannot move while using this ability.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

The Nago statue from The Crystal Shards.

Nago makes his final appearance in The Crystal Shards, although he himself is never seen. Instead, by using the Stone-Cutter ability combo, Kirby may transform into a moving statue of any of his Animal Friends from Kirby's Dream Land 3, including Nago. While in this form, he is very slow, but may execute double and triple jumps like Nago does in his original appearance, as well as crush most enemies he touches as with the regular Stone ability.

Kirby for Nintendo Switch

Nago is set to reappear as part of the Cleaning move-set, presumably during the dash attack.
