Heart Stars are collectable items found in Kirby's Dream Land 3. All of them are needed to forge the Love-Love Stick, a weapon which is used to battle Dark Matter at the end of the game. They are concentrated love and goodwill formed by denizens of Pop Star when they are grateful. Their name comes from the fact that they continually shift form between a heart and a star.

Locations & Guide

Each level in Kirby's Dream Land 3 has six stages (not counting Boss Stages), and one Heart Star can be found at the end of each stage. Kirby and his friends will pick up a Heart Star from a Pop Star denizen at the end of the stage, given that the proper conditions are met. The following summarizes what needs to be done in each stage in order to get a Heart Star:

Grass Land

Stage 1

File:HSChar1.gif The first Heart Star is given out by a large red tulip with eyes. To get this piece, Kirby must venture through this stage without stepping on or otherwise harming any of the flower's buddies along the way.

Stage 2

File:HSChar2.gif This green creature can be found in a side-chamber in Room 2 of this stage. To make it happy, ChuChu needs to extend her tentacle at it, by using her default 'inhale' move. This done correctly, the springy creature will give out a Heart Star at the end of the stage.

Stage 3

File:HSChar3.gif In Room 3, after ascending the cliff, Kirby finds this character aside two rocky screens. He tosses a metal ball behind the screens, which transforms into a Gordo with a specific face in-between them - visible for only a very brief moment as such. Kirby has to then guess what the face looked like. This procedure is repeated twice more. If Kirby gets all three faces right, he will be able to collect a Heart Star from the character at the end of the stage.

Stage 4

File:HSChar4-2.gif File:HSChar4-1.gif In Room 3, there is a bridge made of blocks that can be broken using the Stone ability. Underneath is a path that leads to an alternate doorway. Taking this path leads Kirby to a fight with Boboo. From there, he can reach a stranded monkey named Goku and collect him. This done, Kirby just needs to reach the end of the stage and reunite the monkey with Chao to get the Heart Star.

Stage 5

File:Mine.gif Mine the sunfish is waiting at the end of this stage. If Kirby brings Kine with him, she will give out a Heart Star as thanks.

Stage 6

File:HSChar5.gif In Room 2, in the hollow stump, there are three shapes scattered around the place - a triangle, a ball, and a rectangle. Kirby will need to collect all of these, then head to the stage exit with them. Done correctly, the clown at the end will be seen juggling them, and will give out a Heart Star.

Ripple Field

Stage 1

File:HSChar6.gif There are three side-chambers in the walkway past Pitch and Nago. Kirby needs to enter each of these with Pitch and the Clean ability, and use that ability to lob water at each of the stems in these rooms to make them grow into tulips. If all six tulips grow and are not subsequently damaged, Kirby can obtain a Heart Star from another tulip at the end of the stage.

Stage 2

File:HSChar7.gif In Room 3, after leaving the water tunnel section, there is a small suspended island with a door on it. In this door is this parasol-headed creature. To please this creature, Kirby will need to bring Kine and the Parasol ability. If Kirby activates this move next to the creature, it will begin to burst out laughing, as Kine and Kirby doing this move resembles it greatly. This done, the creature will grant Kirby a Heart Star when he reaches the end of the stage.

Stage 3

File:HSChar8.gif Along the path of this stage, Kirby will run into an open field with five large pots. This Elieel will emerge from one of them, and then begin a game with Kirby. Elieel will then start shuffling around between the pots, with Gordos occupying the other four. They'll pop up and back down repeatedly, getting faster each time. After the last pop-up, Kirby then has to guess which pot the Elieel is in. This game plays three times, and if Kirby gets all three guesses right, he will win, and be able to collect the Heart Star at the end of the stage.

Stage 4

File:HSChar9.gif After ascending the dark tower in an auto-scrolling section, Kirby needs to find a hidden doorway on the left. This will take him on a path to do battle with Captain Stitch. After defeating this Gordo, Kirby will need to gain the Needle ability from the fallen Mid-Boss, then use it to free a frog down a hallway. After the frog is obtained, Kirby just needs to reach the end of the stage to reunite it with its parent, and get the Heart Star.

Stage 5

File:Hīru.gif Pitch's mother, Hīru is waiting at the end of this stage to see her son. She will give out a Heart Star when she does.

Stage 6

File:HSChar10.gif This creature can be found in a side-chamber in the hall after the Zebon challenge, in an underwater grotto. It is sitting next to a block formation in a squared diamond shape, similar to the shape of the creature itself. In an adjacent room is a 5x5 arrangement of Star Blocks. Kirby needs to break off the corners of this arrangement so that it matches the shape of the creature and the block formation in the first room. Once this is done, Kirby will receive a Heart Star from the creature when they meet again at the end of the stage.

Sand Canyon

Stage 1

File:HSChar11.gif In the very first area, Kirby will encounter both red tulips like the ones in Grass Land, and brown mushrooms. Unlike in that stage, Kirby is actually supposed to trample the tulips, but leave the mushrooms untouched. Done correctly, Kirby will receive a Heart Star from another mushroom at the end of the stage.

Stage 2

File:HSChar12.gif In the sandstone tower, past the guarding Bukiset a janitor can be seen sweeping the floor. He has this room covered, but he'd be grateful if Kirby went and swept up the other two that have grown rather dusty. Naturally, the Clean ability is what Kirby will want for this task. Should he clean up both other floors, the janitor will give him a Heart Star as thanks at the end of the stage.

Stage 3

File:HSChar13.gif Kirby will bump into this creature in a separate chamber in this stage. It presents a game, where it blows a bubble, causing a horde of Gordos in the air to briefly show faces. Kirby has to then guess how many Gordos of a specified sort there were. This goes on for three rounds. If Kirby gets all three guesses right, he will be given a Heart Star by the egg creature at the end of the stage.

Stage 4

File:Dinbe.gif File:Hikari.gif In the underwater auto-scrolling area, Kirby has to follow a specific set of tunnels - first down, then up, then through the middle. From there, he will fight the Mid-Boss Haboki, then be able to pick up Dinbe in the next area. Finally, he just needs to reach the end of the stage to get a Heart Star from Hikari.

Stage 5

File:Nyupun.gif Nyupun is waiting at the end of the stage for Kirby to arrive with Chuchu. He will give out a Heart Star as thanks.

Stage 6

File:D3 ROB.gif File:D3 Hector.gif R.O.B. has been disassembled, and his pieces scattered all over the interior of the pyramid. In order to get the Heart Star from Professor Hector, Kirby will need to collect each piece before reaching the end of the stage. The pieces can be found in side-chambers, accessible from the main hub with the Zebon in it.

  • The bottom-left chamber has R.O.B.'s right arm. To get it, Kirby will need to grab Coo and the Stone ability. Careful maneuvering is needed in the first room to avoid falling into the Void below.
  • The top-left chamber has R.O.B.'s base. To get it, Kirby has to follow the correct path through a series of doors. To determine this path, Kine and the Spark ability may come in handy.
  • The top chamber has R.O.B.'s head. To get it, Kirby has to climb an auto-scrolling tower. Once at the top, Kirby can grab the head, but he does have to climb back down again, which may be more difficult.
  • The top-right chamber has R.O.B.'s torso. To get it, Kirby has to go through the doors on either the left or the right, with the middle one always taking him back down. Along the way, he can use the various Copy Abilities to ascend the tower.
  • The bottom-right chamber has R.O.B.'s left arm. To get it, Kirby will need Kine, but will also need to get him over there. The best way to do this is to use the Parasol ability to float over.

Once all the pieces are collected, Kirby just needs to reach the end of the stage.
