Stages

Cushy Cloud-1

File:CushyCloud-1.jpg
Kirby leaps down a path topped with clouds in Stage 1.

Section 1: The stage begins as Kirby falls from a cloud canopy into a rocky cliff area. The path progresses to the right, as a sneaky foe waits in ambush atop a star block. From there, the path slopes downward past more foes. Unfortunately, floating above the path will only lead Kirby into a swarm of mean flying enemies. At the end of the rocky path, a Cupie guards a precipice spanned by thin floating platforms. Following these platforms leads to the door to the next section, suspended on a pillar over the void at the right end of the area.

Section 2: The door leads to a cliffy area closer to the ground. The path continues downward and to the right past some more frankly rude enemies. There are also sections of ground that crumble if Kirby steps on them, which might make him wonder how they managed to stay intact up to that point. At the bottom, the path leads into a shallow grotto containing a Sparky and the door to the next section, along with a bubble containing a small Kirby icon.

Section 3: The door leads to a cave section, headed right once more. A Laser Ball appears to say hello in its usual manner, so Kirby ought to take evasive action. Should Kirby decide to swallow this creature, he can use its ability to clear his way through the cave, and acquire items stashed away in the ceiling. At the far right of the path, this can be done to open a very thin passageway which leads down to a Treasure Chest. From there, Kirby can then return to the main path, where a Sword Knight will very graciously greet him. The cave continues to the left from there until it reaches a massive blockade of star blocks. Breaking them all will reveal two doors, one to the lower left and another to the upper right. Taking the upper-right door leads to a side chamber containing a couple of Gordos guarding some bubbles. The door from there leads to the next section. Otherwise, the door to the lower-left leads straight to the next section.

Section 4: The door leads to a blue cavern containing large star blocks and more enemies. After descending a ladder, a room is reached with an Acchi guarding some metal blocks. The clever puffball can use Acchi's advice and pummel his way through these blocks to get another chest. The path continues back to the left and down from there past a blockade of Noddys to reach the door to the next section.

Section 5: The door leads to a completely straight horizontal cave passage, with a wider one beneath. Proceeding to the right reveals a Squeaker holding a large chest in the lower passage. It isn't hard to take the chest from it, but doing so calls in its buddies, who will set upon Kirby with a vengeance. Spinni leads them, so Kirby should try to avoid getting pounced on. The path continues to the right, through a decidedly less straight cave past more Squeakers. The stage exit can be found at the end of this path.

Cushy Cloud-2

File:CushyCloud-2.jpg
Kirby makes a path across a pool in Stage 2.

Section 1: The stage begins in a tropical locale, as the path leads to the right toward a bottomless pool and a Pengi. From there, more small pools and enemies are encountered. In the middle of one particular pool, a bubble containing an Energy Drink can be found. The door to the next section can be found at the right shore.

Section 2: The door leads to a higher path. To the right is a pool with a Sword Knight guarding it. The path continues into the pool, which leads to an underwater cave. In there are a number of evil fish and Gordos, as well as a blocked off doorway in the upper middle. Kirby can break the blockade with a sword or other utensil, which will lead him to a room with a 1Up and a chest below some crumbling blocks. Back on the main path, the door to the next section can be found by swimming out of the right side of the pool.

Section 3: The door leads to an open area, with a staircase to the right containing an embedded Sparky and Waddle Doo. Jumping down the other side leads to a flat arena where Boxy is fought. Defeating and swallowing it yields the Magic ability, which means all sorts of wonky moves to play with. The path continues to the right past more small pools and Perara, with the door to the next section being reached at the right end.

Section 4: The door leads to a flat walkway over a pool of water. This walkway eventually makes way to an open pool with floating and suspended platforms dispersed over it. Along the path, a gang of Scarfies will spring an ambush on Kirby, using an Energy Drink as bait. They shouldn't be too much of a hassle though. The door to the next section can be reached at the end of the path, just past the ambush site.

Section 5: The door leads to a bi-layered area, with water in the lower section. As Kirby enters, Doc and the other Squeaks appear to nab a large chest and attempt to get away with it. Kirby will once again have to wrestle with them to get the chest. The stage exit is located just to the right from there.

Cushy Cloud-3

File:CushyCloud-3.jpg
Kirby cuts a rope holding a Sparky over a pit in Stage 3.

Section 1: The stage begins in a grassy plain, with a path leading to the right. It soon drops off to a bottomless pit with floating platforms interspersed above it. On one of these platforms is a bubble containing the Cutter ability. On the other side of the pit is a ramp leading up to the door to the next section.

Section 2: The door leads to another walkway, this time with a Twister visible to the right. Using its ability will allow Kirby to effortlessly cross this area, pummeling more enemies in the process. The door to the next section can be found in a grotto up a ramp at the right end of the path.

Section 3: The door leads to an underground vertical shaft populated by Foleys. To the right is a bubble containing the Parasol ability. Using this, Kirby can more safely ascend the shaft. At the top are two spit paths, one smothered in star blocks. Taking the door under these blocks leads to an open canyon area with a Cupie and some precipices. It guards a platform which holds a chest. Back on the main path, the door to the right leads to the next section.

Section 4: The door leads to an open rocky plain with another path leading right. A Sir Kibble stands guard, whose ability could be useful for cutting down ropes on the path ahead. Doing this will allow him to bypass some annoying foes over a bottomless pit. On one particular platform, a blockade of star blocks hides another door. This leads to a room with a Gold Waddle Dee inside. Kirby will have to either act on the creature immediately to obtain its chest, or cut the ropes to trap it in a small pit, preventing it from running off into a decidedly deeper pit. Defeating it yields another chest. Back on the main path, Kirby will have to traverse one more pit, but should be mindful of what he cuts here if he wants a refreshing drink. From there, the door to the next section can be found lodged in a cliffside.

Section 5: The door leads to a cave section leading right. After a harrowing struggle with a few enemies, the path then bends upward and to the left. This path opens up to a wider area, with a switch toggling a door to unlock a room with a large chest inside. Kirby will have to be quick pressing the switch if he wants to get through the door before it closes again. The Foley in the room might help with this task. Otherwise, the area can be exited by hovering through a soft platform in the ceiling. Should Kirby collect the chest, the Squeaks will appear, led by Storo. The path continues upward and to the right past these menacing rodents. The stage exit can be found at the end of the path.

Cushy Cloud-4

File:CushyCloud-4.jpg
Kirby takes his time floating up a cliff along with some rolling Metalun in Stage 4.

Section 1: The stage begins on a high rocky plain leading to the right. A Bubble Head appears on the path, granting Kirby that deceptively powerful ability. The path then leads to a bridge, and then quite a few open pits swept by strong upward winds, which prevent puffy little Kirby from falling into them. These are patrolled by a horde of Scarfies, among other things. The door to the next section can be reached on top of a cliff at the right end of the area.

Section 2: The door leads to a hillside with a Fuse Cannon and a Hot Head to provide the light. Using the cannon will blast Kirby upward to a new area, where he can access a chest stuffed inside a cloud. Otherwise, the door to the next section is just to the right.

Section 3: The door leads to a sheer cliffside, which Kirby must climb. On this cliff, a Metalun will harass our pink hero, but it shouldn't be too much of a hassle, due to how slowly it rolls. Once he reaches the top, a Warp Star will greet Kirby, and offer him a ride. Taking it shoots him upward, through a cloudy canopy which will yield to him more bubbles if he can fit them in, then land him in the next section.

Section 4: The Warp Star lands Kirby in a cloud cavern studded with metal beams. The path continues to the right past a Bun and other large creatures. Further down the path, Kirby will have to contend with some fire breathing enemies and some Gordos. Using the Fire Ability can allow him to clear away the clouds, though care should be taken not to fall into any pits created while doing this. The door to the next section can be found further down the path, guarded by an Acchi. However, there's something else hidden behind the door...

Section 5: The door leads to a large open area with cloud congregations and enemies all about. The path winds around stone columns and clouds, past many enemies. A chest can be seen blocked off by two separate bomb block barriers. Kirby will want to be careful which order he takes out the barriers, or he will lose the chest to a bottomless pit. The door to the next section can be found to the right from there.

Section 6: The door leads to a two-deck walkway, with Kirby appearing on the lower deck, and Spinni appearing on the upper deck. Kirby will have to chase her to the right to obtain the large treasure chest. The path is long, so Kirby will have to move fast to catch her. Once the path merges back into one, the stage exit can be found at the right end of the path, over the Squeaks' small castle grotto.

Kirby supercharges a lightning cloud in Stage 5.

Section 1: The stage begins in a thundercloud, as Kirby must progress to the right alongside the fragile cloudtops. Along the way, Kirby can make use of dark stormy cloud platforms, some of which act as conveyors. The door to the next section can be found to the right, once Kirby has appropriately dealt with the obstacles in his way.

Section 2: The door leads to a vertical cloud shaft, with another dark cloud which can take Kirby upward. Electrifying it will prove to be the safest way up this shaft, as Scarfies infest it. At the top, a bubble containing the Spark ability can be collected as backup, as another cloud is ridden up another shaft. This leads to the door to the next section at the top.

Section 3: The door leads to a passageway consisting of two separate tunnels. The upper tunnel has a chest riding a cloud. Kirby will have to chase it if he wants the chest. He'll really have to work those stubby feet however, since the cloud the chest is riding on will disintegrate at the end of the path, dropping the chest into the void if he is too slow. From there, the stage exit is located just to the right.

Cushy Cloud-Boss: Mecha-Kracko

File:CushyCloud-Boss.jpg
Kirby contends with Mecha-Kracko in a thunderhead.

The stage begins in a cloud cave, as the path leads upward to the left past bubbles containing the Fire and Tornado abilities. The door to the boss's chamber is located at the top.

The arena itself takes place in a stormy backdrop, with a flat cloudy floor. Daroach appears, then summons Mecha-Kracko after Kirby before flying off. The fight itself occurs in two phases, and two Vitality bars for the boss. Once the first is depleted, Mecha-Kracko falters for a moment, revealing Doc as its pilot. Then it reforms and begins changing the cloud floor below to introduce pits that Kirby can fall through. Once its second life bar is depleted, Mecha-Kracko explodes, leaving Doc dazed on the ground. Once the chest is collected, Kirby may proceed to the next level, Jam Jungle.

Cushy Cloud-EX

File:CushyCloud-EX.jpg
Kirby navigates an extensive log maze in Stage EX.

Section 1: The stage begins in a forest area, atop a great deal of logs trapping a Waddle Doo. Using its ability will allow Kirby to 'free' a Heavy Knight patrolling the area surrounding the door to the next section.

Section 2: The door leads to the interior of a log maze. Kirby will have to wrap his way around the path, dealing with foes in the process. A large treasure chest can be seen over the door to the next section as Kirby begins his roundabout voyage. Along the way, several side chambers can be encountered. The one to the top-left leads to a small room with a Shotzo and a 1Up. The one to the top-right leads to a chest, though Kirby will need to be careful how he sets about to obtain it. In the lower-left is a Cannon which will shoot Kirby to a room containing another chest. Finally, at the end of the maze is the large chest that was seen at the beginning. Collecting it will cause Kirby to be set upon once again by the Squeaks, both in this section and the next.

Section 3: The door leads to a cave area, with a path leading right. Spinni will immediately appear behind a crumbling wall if Kirby still has the large chest in his stomach dimension. Along the path are spikes that can be retracted by pressing switches. If Kirby is clever enough, he can use these to set a spike trap for Spinni to hinder her progress. The stage exit can be found at the end of the path, above the Squeaks' mound fortress.
